S/o gas prices

Do you remember how much gas cost when you first started driving? Pretty sure it was about 85 or 89 cents a gallon for me.

Re: S/o gas prices

  • Not when I started driving, but when I had the Escort, I remember $0.97/gallon.  Of course.... when I had my absolutely most efficient car, I also had cheap gas prices.  It really started to go up when I got the Mustang.  That was also a year of many blizzards.  I felt like it was conspiracy just because I got a damned sportscar.
  • It was .89 a gallon- I remember distinctly which gas station I drove to to get it, also!

Right a round there. I filled my tank for $9, I do remember that.

  • I distinctly remember a time when I was a senior in high school and it cost me $19 to fill my tank (Taurus, so I'm guessing gas was a little over a dollar a gallon) and I bitched about that. My how things have changed...that wasn't even that long ago.

  • It was $1.25/gal, but I didn't start driving until summer 2002...so gas had started to go up since it was post-9/11.

I remember thinking it was cheaper for me to eat lunch at school than it was to get a gallon of gas. Oh, if only I'd known the gas would go way past $1.25...

  • Mine was around the .89 or so.  I remember in high school going to the local Albertson's on my way home from school, handing over a $20, filling up and getting change back.  Now, it's like five 20's and your lucky to get change.

If it was practical to do here in Texas, I'd get a moped.  However, it's not conducive to driving 22 miles to and from work....

  • Ha, I remember filling my tank for $11.00!

Hey, Vicki, isn't that 'cause everyone in CT is just made of money?  Wink

  • It was 90-something cents.

  • I started driving in 2000, but it was never less than a $1. I think it was around $1.50 or so. No clue how much it cost to fill up back then because my Dad took care of that. Smile But I remember in college with my Focus, it was around $20-25 to fill up then.
  • It was definitely closer to $1.50 for me.  I started driving is 2000.
