anyone grow tomatoes?

What are your favorite kind of tomatoes to grow? We're thinking of planting some veggies and I want to try a few different varieties - regular or cherry . Thanks!

Re: anyone grow tomatoes?

  • I always grow just one plant.  Last year I got an Early Girl variety.  I never get a very big yield... last year I think I only got 6 tomatos. :(  DH got me a Topsy Turvey for Easter and I'm super excited to try it out.

  • I always plant Early Girl but have only had luck planting them in the ground and not in a container/pot.  I also like to plant a couple cherry tomato plants because I love them in salad.
  • I grow tomatoes every year.  I've always done it in a planter box on the balcony of my apartments.  I'm so excited to actually have a real garden this year!!!  I usually do the Early Girls too, but I will probably plant a variety this year.  I love love love fresh tomatoes!

  • I usually do a variety of tomato plants.  I pretty much always do an early girl and cherry tomatoes.  There are a number of varieties that produce later in the season, and I'll get one or two of those (big boy's come to mind, but there's a few other's I've tried).  Basically, the early girls produce earlier, the big boy's (or whatever I end up getting) produce later, and the cherries kind of go all season.

    LOL.

I do cherry and a bigger hybrid (just depends on what I grab).  This year, I think I'm just going to do cherry but who knows!  The cherry plant produces more than we can eat and I love them!
