Registry Judging

So I'm looking at the wedding registries for a wedding we're going to later this month... & I am judging like whoa.

1) $150 chip & dip platter? Really?

2) I love my dogs, but a dog bed & bowls?

3) VIDEO GAMES?

What kind of stuff do you judge on a registry?

Re: Registry Judging

  • food and drinks.

I try not to judge too much, just because I know they may be putting something on there that they don't expect anyone to buy for them, but so they can get the completion discount.

  • I judge more than I want to admit. I understand wanting the completion discount, BUT add it AFTER the event(s).
  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure we got a discount at Target for registry completion. Maybe 10%.

    Yes, BRU does too.

  • when i registered for the wedding, i didn't even know completion coupons existed so i didn't register for anything extravagant i later planned to buy. i do side eye people with 2k TV's on registries.

  • I'm totally dissing this one side of my family, even though they are great people in general, if a little misled on etiquette and such. But my other cousin (younger brother of the kegger couple) got married last year, and they totally had toys and sheets and stuff for their 2 year-old on their Target registry.

Um yeah, so if anyone was NOT thinking this was a shotgun wedding, you pretty much gave it away there, kids.

  • I just hate when people don't put a range of items on their lists.  If the cheapest thing is $60, you're not getting something off your registry from me.  (Depending on who it is, of course.)

My co-worker's step daughter is getting married, and the shower is this weekend.  She and fiance are HS sweethearts, did things a little backwards.  Have 3 kids, a house, etc.  CW's mom was like, "I don't understand, it's more like a housewarming list....dishes, towels, utensils, etc."  I was so confused.  #1, that's what they need, they've already been living together and have most typical stuff.  #2, what do you expect to find on a wedding registry?  Doves and wedding bells?

  • Toilet paper and kitty litter.

    I've seen both.

  • Oh I totally judge.  One of my friends is getting married over the summer and her registry had some really ridiculous stuff on it.. no, I'm not buying your fiance XBox games and I'm not buying you stuff for your dog. Sorry.
