Post Wedding Weight Gain?!?!

Hi Ladies,

Is it just me or has anyone else gained weight after the big day?  I have gained a ton of weight! We just started a biggest loser contest at work, so I'm hoping that motivates me to get all those pounds off!

Re: Post Wedding Weight Gain?!?!

  • I did around christmas but not really.
  • Not since the wedding.  Mine was all unfortunately last summer before the wedding due to my doctor switching my BC on me.  I gained 17lbs in 3 months, and still having a hard time getting it back off after months of not being on BC anymore.  UGH.

  • I read alot of "studies" and a few said most women will gain 15-20 pounds in the first two years they are married.

I actually lost weight before the wedding and kept if off since then but now am on the track to loose more.

  • I'm up 5 lbs since the wedding.  All in all, not bad...I think.

  • I haven't gained any.  But I think I'm weird.

I was 145lbs in college, then I started getting sick and dropped to 103lbs in 7 months.  It was insane.  I gained back 5lbs in the next year, but since then (15years)  I haven't been able to gain any weight.

My mum wonders if that's why I'm not getting knocked up.

I have. I don't know how much because I don't know how much I weight before or after. With my weight I go by how I look and how my clothes fit not an actual number. Actually at my first OB appointment they weighted me. This is the first time in years that I actually know how much I weight.

  • I gained around the holidays but am back to wedding weight. Actually less, because I had my wedding dress on for my Royal Wedding party and it was looser than on my wedding day. I didn't wear any stomach sucking in undergarments and it was just fine.

  • I gained maybe 10 lbs between buying my dress and the wedding, though fortunately the dress still fit.  I held steady for a bit, then gained another 5.  I have lost a little since then, but not much...this is pretty much normal fluctuation for me, and I wouldn't say it has anything to do with the wedding.

I think a lot of people lose weight specifically for their wedding, then stop making a conscious effort (or at least slack off) after the wedding, so that probably accounts for a lot of the 'statistical' post-wedding weight gain.

  • i did, though i dont know how much.  the last time i weighed myself before the wedding (WAY before the wedding, like MONTHS and MONTHS before) i was about 30 pounds less than i was 2 months ago.  i joined weight watchers and i have already lost 10 pounds.  my goal is to lose 40.

  • I've actually lost about 5 pounds since the wedding without doing anything special. I tried on my dress (I am doing spring TTD pictures) and it is actually a bit loose. To bad it couldn't have been like this before the wedding.
