Re: Controversial POLL!
Honestly, I'm not sure. I can see both sides. On the one side, it seems like a lot of people are crying for proof (but then I wonder if they'll just say it was fake anyway, because people will believe what they want a la the birth certificate silliness).
On the other hand, I think it is kind of gruesome to show such photos and it might cause more harm than good.
So I don't know. I also don't really think I personally want to see them. I know he is responsible for terrible things, but I still cannot be "happy" about a person being dead. His death does not bring back the victims of his attacks, and it doesn't really serve as "justice". I'm sure it gives some people peace knowing he's gone, but I think we're foolish to think this means the world is really any safer.
I am unsure too.
On one hand, I want to see it to show "proof" that he is/was dead but on the other hand, it may be too gruesome to show. I mean, he is already dead and thrown out to sea.
I'm on the fence, I see both sides of the issue, but maybe I'm just stupid and believe our government actually killed him and that's the end of it for me, also I have an easier time believing he's been killed because it wasn't during the Bush Adminstration.
Also I feel like it will make our country look like we're going glorifying his death, and there will be some people who do it.
Alright I guess I'm leaning more towards I don't need to see it. My husband on the other hand wants to see a video.

Pretty much this. And, part of me wants to see it because of the fact he was buried at sea.
However, I don't think that Obama's release of his birth certificate shut people up. People who think he is lying just think it's fake. People who really believe our gov't is lying to us will just say that the pictures are fakes too.
I just don't think there's a way to please everyone. But I do think that if they do release the photos I will not be looking at them. I hope they are not splashed all over for days.
Well NBC just said the White House will not be releasing the photos.
I'm ok with this - they said they were VERY graphic and honestly, no kid or sensitive person needs to see that. And you know that if they were released people who shouldn't see them would be seeing them.

I voted no because of what Claire said. People who don't want to believe won't be satisfied with the photos, just like with the birth certificate. I saw a Fox News clip where they blew up the size and showed it, claiming the "green lines" around the edges indicated it was photoshoped. I saw no green, but that's besides the point. They say they want proof, but won't believe it anyways.
all of this. it won't shut up the nay-sayers, and I think it is disrespectful to the dead, even if the dead is a bad, bad person, and it won't bring back the 9/11 victims or our troops who've been lost overseas or the lost civilians from both sides overseas. I'm pretty uncomfortable with graphic images of war in the media in general (though i know they had their place in making, for example, WWII more "real" at home).
I voted "No", because I also agree that it's not an image that the public really needs to see.
I'm sorry, the guy was shot in the face, what on earth is there left to see if it's him or not?
I voted no, I didn't watch Sadam's beheading/hanging, I sure as heck don't want to see dead images of Bin Laden. I think it gross that CNN keeps showing the bloody floor at the compound.
I get both people were bad people, but what good will their death images do?
I'm glad they are not releasing the images. I think there is no need for people to see it. In my opinion it could just promote more violence and that sure isn't needed.
