You're right, even though it's anonymous and you don't know what school I teach at, it's probably not kosher to have their work posted. I hope I'm not coming across as making fun of them - I'm actually more upset about it than anything. It's scary to realize that what you're doing isn't working for a bunch of your students. One of the kids I spent an entire class with going over his work, but ugh... to no avail. So, I'm left with the question: is it me?
Bah.
But I wrangled out of one of the kids that he hadn't read the last third of the book (from the point my student teacher took over).

Nah, you didn't come across as making fun (or only making fun, anyway). I think it's safe to say we can all see how much you care about those kids.
I hope they at least see that they can't just not read the book and try to pull the wool over your eyes.
