Mariah Carey's twins' names...

It's a slow work day and I can't help but read people.com!

I realize the title of this post could be misinterpreted as something else...but anyways (!), looks like their son is Moroccan Scott and the daughter Monroe...I actually kind of like the name Monroe, but I'm not into nationalities-as-names for their son...

Re: Mariah Carey's twins' names...

  • Moroccan?? oh geez...

    (I'm alright with Monroe)

  • moroccan? *rolls eyes* here's hoping they give a nickname that doesn't sound quite so ridiculous. monroe isn't terrible.

  • Ehh, they are odd, but actually not as bad as I would expect out of her.

Monroe is the name of the county I lived in in NYS so that's weird to me too.

  • I might be able to be talked in to Morroco, and use the nickname Rocco (a la Madonna's child), but MorroCAN?  Pass.

I kind of like Monroe for a boys name.  Doesn't ring in as a feminine first name for me.  However because it's forever attached to a female sex symbol...

  • I somehow think Morocco would be better than Moroccan. And her rationale was that . . . she has a room in her home called the Moroccan Room? Where her husband proposed? Not even that she's been to Morocco and love it. Oy.

  • So here's what I picture.

Scene:  They're walking down the street, and someone comes up to them

Random person: Oh he's adorable!  What's his name?

    Mariah:  It's Moroccan.

Random person: Sooo what's his name?

as if the name itself is a moroccan name, like, a name specific to morocco.

    I don't hate monroe - but I don't like it as a girls name.

  • EDIT: nevermind.

    those name are pretty awful.

  • I think Monroe sounds more like a boy name.

Her rationale for Moroccan scares me.  By that logic, DD should be named something like Iwo Jima, since DH proposed at the park there.  Or I guess we could have gone with Carrilon, which would be forever mispronounced as Caroline?  Anyway, the thought behind it (named for the style of decor in a room with significance) just seems a little creepy to me.

  • so the son has a 1st and a middle name but the daughter only 1st?

so weird, but they are a very strange couple

  • I certainly expected Glitter or Butterfly or Pink sparkled princessness to come into play...but no dice!

Monroe's is the name of one of my favorite restraunts back home (NM).  The mascot Monroe is a short, stout, hispanic man with a long black beard.  This really doesn't seem like a girl's name to me!
