Runners: anyone tried A u s t i n F i t?
I'm thinking about signing up for the half-marathon training and was wondering if anyone had used them before. The reviews on yelp are mixed, but they seem beginner friendly and the price is way more appealing than other training groups I've looked at.
Any one tried it or looked into it?
Re: Runners: anyone tried A u s t i n F i t?
Not me, but my fella started his running obsession there. Here's what I know based on his/my interaction with the group:
The group is very beginner friendly. When BF joined, his only experience was walking a half marathon. Three years later, and he's run 8 (I think?) marathons, and countless half-marathons. From what I've gathered, he thought it was a really good foundation/beginning program.
Also, all the people I've met in his group are very friendly and welcoming to new people. With only one exception, I really like the group he ran with. (One guy, who I believe is a coach, is unfortunately kindof a douche.)
I think if he had any complaints about the group, it would probably be that they didn't push him hard enough or motivate him as well as another group he's now with. I think it's a mixed compliment/complaint: the group was more like a group of friends training together rather than coaches & runners. Does that make sense?

Thanks, Guava! I see what you mean about the complaint/compliment. It makes a lot of sense and it provides a little context for some of the reviews I've read. It sounds like a good place to start out but one that might get outgrown.
