I'm sorry if this question gets asked a lot, but I'm looking for a gift suggestion. I don't want to get some plastic toy that's going to be irrelevant in ten minutes. For one of my friends I had a custom puzzle/stool with her daughter's name, but the seller is no longer on Etsy and I don't like what else is out there.
Any other suggestions?
Re: Gift for 1st Birthday
Ditto Jen - books and puzzles are good.
Little People sets are good
Play tunnels and tents are good (especially pop up ones)
Magna Doodle sets
ETA - the "customized" stuff is nice too, but IMO it frequently doesn't really match the rest of DD's stuff.
well I don't know if this falls in the category of 'plastic toy that's going to be irrelevant in ten minutes' but DS got a ride-on toy for his first birthday that he still loves and uses all the time. Those can be pricey though (his was around $40) so I would go with books as another option.
Another cool thing I have always wanted to get is a personalized sign to hang on the kid's door....lots of those on etsy too.
I second this. My brother got DD Little people car, she still loves it. Uses it every day!
A box with some paper in it, I swear it will be the best gift ever!
People are bombarding me with what to get for the 1st bday, and i seriously have no clue what to tell them so I just tell them to come celebrate with us.
If I could tell people w/o sounding greedy, I'd tell them money for LO's account. Everything that is needed, we have and to have a gazillion toys everywhere is unnecessary. I'm not asking for a lot but if you're going to spend your hard earned money then a small amt to an acct is much more useful than toys. I don't even care if it's $5! It's much more useful in LO's account than a $5 toy, IMO.
I gave my BFF's child a few books and check last yr for the 1st bday and BFF said it was her favorite gift.
ETA: any gift is appreciated and it is so nice that someone would spend their hard earned money on our LO...i didn't want this to sound like I didn't want "useless" toys because anything someone brings is more than LO had and while nothing was necessary it is appreciated. I was just giving my opinion about what I think is a nice 1st gift, because the baby really has no idea what's going on, so if they don't have a physical gift it's not like they know
