Re: interesting "green" quiz

  • I got 2 wrong.

I would like to see more data about the impact of book v. e-readers. I understand that there are some bad chemicals and plastics in electronic devices - but what about the nasty paper mill chemicals to produce paper books and the fact that each paper book uses fossil fuels to get it from the publisher to me and each book I buy on an e-reader is sent to me over the air. But, then again the e-books are available 24/7, because of (a) room(s) of giant servers running 24/7 - but electricity can be produced without fossil fuels. Not that it matters to me - I don't read.

I also have a problem with the cloth v. linen napkin question. Linen is a subset of cloth. They should have defined that they meant cotton cloth and flax seed cloth. And linen can be a catch-all term for light woven things or for table textiles of any material. Just because linen has a technical definition doesn't negate a colloquial definition.
