I agree with you Xan. Not that I think Osama deserves much respect after the horrible things he has done to so many people, but he is still a human being and we really don't need to be showing pictures or videos of his death (I'm glad we respected Islam tradition and "buried" him right away). It just gives more ammunition to his followers. For all of those that want "proof" what good is a photograph anyways? Photographs are easily altered. If Osama was really still alive don't you think he would have released a video to discredit the US by now?

TTC Since January 2011 - We have bad spermPersonally, I want to see proof. However, you are absolutely right that photos can be altered and that it wouldn't have been sufficient proof anyway. I mean, we have pictures of the man on the moon, and 42 years later some people still say it was a conspiracy.
So weighing the pros and cons of releasing them, I do (reluctantly) think he was right in his decision.
