Is it bad that T only wants to eat these lately? I feed her what we are eating but she doesn't go for it. I'll give her a Gerber meal (the toddler or preschool ones, raviolis or the ones that look like a soup container) and she'll eat at least half, if not all.
Not that these are bad for her at all, but I would prefer not to give her something different. She gets offered fresh fruits but won't usually eat fresh veggies. It might have something to do with teething too. What do you guys think?
Re: Gerber meals
I would have danced the jig if Helen had ever eaten one of those Gerber meals (and believe me, I tried). I don't think it's a problem for her to eat them sometimes. Then again, my kid has all kinds of eating issues, so maybe you don't want to take my advice!
I wouldn't worry about her eating "special meals" right at this point... I would make dinner for the boys and they would eat separate from us until they were about 15-16 months because I wanted to make sure they were getting good stuff and building a good variety of foods into their diet, and I wanted to make it stuff that they could easily eat on their own and most of our dinner meals weren't finger friendly...
it wasn't until we went to camp that I started to feed them the same thing we were eating (because if I didn't I would have to buy it myself... and thats just a pain!) and then when we got home I introduced the fork and spoon and they eat everything we do and most nights we eat together! If they don't eat what is offered I usually try one or two of the tricks I have up my sleeve as far as stuff I know they like that is also nutritious (banana, cheese stick, peas, crackers)... but otherwise I figure they aren't that hungry and will eat at breakfast....
I have found that the boys usually eat HUGE breakfasts, large lunches and small dinners and have a few snacks throughout the day. The other thing I have found is if we eat dinner much past 530, they don't eat a lot because they are getting tired...
It may be that T is not a big "night eater" and isn't that hungry at night.
What's the deal with this?? At daycare Owen eats chicken/ziti/broccoli every Tuesday and turkey hotdog/broccoli/carrots every Wednesday. If I served those things he would eat the ziti and the bread from the hotdog, and that is it.
