Fandango.com

So a month or so ago LivingSocial had a deal on movie tickets at Fandango.com.  I checked out the website and it seemed easy enough to use, and I bought the deal.  Well now I'm going to use the deal and it says that the only theaters in the area that offer online ticketing are in Dearborn, Southfield, or Walled Lake.

Pretty frustrating since I could have sworn when I looked into it I was able to use them at the AMC theaters close to me.  I see LOKI posted below about getting tickets for this weekend at Fandango at the Emagine theatre, but according to the website you can't get them for that theater either.

Is there something I'm missing here?

Re: Fandango.com

  • No, you're not missing anything.  I bought that too, thinking I'd be able to use it at one of five local theaters, nope, we have to drive.  I'm a bit ticked off too.

At least DH works in Southfield, so maybe one night I'll meet him up there and we can go.

That really sucks.  DH & I got an AMC giftcard for Christmas that we will probably never use because we don't live near an AMC theater.  It's yours if you want it.

I'll certainly take it off your hands.  I'd be happy to pay you for it.  Heck, I could even give you my promo code for the stupid Fandango site if you live near any of those theaters! Smile

Sounds like we're both in the same boat! I was thinking that the Southfield theatre is probably my best option, but I don't think I've ever been there.  Is it a nice theatre or should I try the Walled Lake option? Any insight?

  • The Walled Lake theater is nice and pretty new.  The Dearborn theater looks okay, it's in the Fairlane Town Center.  We were just near there last weekend, but didn't have time to catch a movie :(

All 3 are about the same distance from our place, so I don't know what we'll do.  I was so hoping we could use it in Livonia, Novi or Canton, that's where we usually go.

Just PM me how I can get it to you and I'll mail it tomorrow.  No $$$ necessary!

  • I'm wondering if we should start printing the pages when we purchase these deals so when troubles arise later on when we want to use them we can show the print out & say "hey, when i purchased it, it said....."

  • I'm in the same boat! I bought the deal, and was pissed to discover it was basically useless!! Ugh!
  • I use Fandango all the time for GLC AMC and a couple others in my area with no issue.  I haven't tried to use this living social deal yet.  Not all theatres participate with online ticket purchases through fandango.  For example, I can look up movie times for the MJR theatre through Fandango, but I can not buy tickets.  I have to go to another site for that.

Did any of you contact fandango.com or living social?  No where in the fine print does it state theatre restrictions.

That's the problem, none of the theaters around here participate with them, totally should have looked at their website before buying but I assumed with so many around here that one would be included.

Yeah that's a bummer.  I have noticed that some theatres also turn on and off the online ticket purchasing too.  That is annoying.  This happened during some of the big premiers like Twilight and HP.

I swear this is what happened.  Don't laugh, but until I saw this deal I had never even heard of Fandango so I checked it out pretty thoroughly before I bought the deal.  I looked at the local AMC theaters by me and I would almost SWEAR that the showtimes were in red and I could click on them and buy tickets.  I remember going through the whole process just to see how user friendly it was, and all I needed to do was enter in a promo code.  Then all of a sudden it says they don't do online ticketing. Sad
