Does anyone use an internet provider other than Verizon or Comcast?

DH and I are looking to lower some of our bills and now we are tackling phone/internet/tv. Internet is so high with Comcast and Verizon--are there any other options?

  • hmmm the there are wireless cards/cell phone connections now but that's about it.  Satellite internet isn't cheaper...

  • We use Broadstripe for our cable and internet. They used to be Millenium Digital Cable.  We pay about $130 for internet and digital cable w/ all movie channels. We don't have  DVR though, to give you the idea of cost. We used to have Comcast.
  • Can you make a deal with comcast/verizon? We have phone, internet, cable and DVR service for $120 including taxes with Verizon...

sorry...hit enter too quickly.  Anyway, we only pay $150 a month for everything through Comcast...so not much more than Broadstripe it seems.  DH haggled and we got in on a great deal...we have 2 DVR HD boxes, a basic cable box, internet, phone and all the movie channels for 1 year.  It's definitely worth calling to see what they can do for you.  Tell them you priced FIOS and Direct TV because you're trying to save money and they both came back with better deals for you but you don't necessarily want to leave because you have an established relationship with them already.  Also, if you have tv's where you don't need an HD/DVR box, maybe downgrade those boxes to just basic cable.  I don't believe they charge for those boxes.
