Bloggers Bake for Hope is a virtual bake sale version of Bake for Hope, a week long, nationwide, 100% volunteer-run bake sale event occurring the week leading up to Mother?s Day. All proceeds from these bake sales go to local chapters of the Susan G. Komen charity.
Jen of Beantown Baker and Cara of Cara?s Cravings have teamed up to create Bloggers Bake for Hope, allowing talented bakers from the blogosphere to donate their time and ingredients to whip up tempting treats. The treats are posted on the Blog and bidding opened up at midnight last night, welcoming folks from far and wide to throw their bids in the ring. The highest bidder for each item will receive that item, shipped to them, from the baker.
I?m telling you all of this not only because it?s a great cause with incredible-looking treats up for bidding, but because I have volunteered to make one of my favorite baked goods ? Black-Bottom Coconut Bars! This is a Martha Stewart recipe that I made awhile back and still thinking happy thoughts about. The base is a rich, fudgy layer of chocolate and the topping is a toasty-sweet coconut mixture, similar to a macaroon (one of my favorite cookies!). I have donated an 8?8 pan of these goodies to the cause, and invite you come and bid for my item or anything else that catches your eye! You can donate to a worthy charity while getting a sweet treat to enjoy at home ? it?s Win-Win!
Re: Shilling for a good cause
Oh Jen, I'm sorry! I don't know what that could be
When I go to one of the items there's a box at the bottom for commenting. I don't have to do anything special.
I tried to log on this morning from my home computer, but the internet was running really slow (comcast). I'll try again tonight.
Edit: I don't even see a box to comment in. boo!
