Morning all!
Today is the girls last day at their daycare provider. We switch them to a center next week. I'm excited for them to go to a center. I think they need the structure. However, i'm still sad that this is their last day. It is like a chapter in their lives are closing and they are getting big. I've been trying not to think about it, but our provider put a nice note on her FB page that made me cry.
I'm so glad that I don't have to pick them up today because I know our provider and her girls might cry and then I would cry.
Another thing that makes me sad is that my girls are 100% innocent right now. They haven't been picked on, had other kids be mean to them, experience another kid not want to play with them, etc. and I know that will change once they get in a center and be around more kids. I know it is all part of growing up, but it makes me sad. ![]()
Re: Thursday Randoms
GVSUbride- (((hugs))) I bet the girls (Mia especially) love the new center.
I just ate a leftover fajita, does that count? Now if I could only figure out how to make a virgin margarita.
We don't celebrate, but we do eat Mexican food at least twice a week.
I think I'm dying. I could get out of bed at all yesterday. I'm achey all over. my throat is sore and it's hard to swallow. My body can't make up its mind if it's hot of cold and my nose if stuffy and dry at the same time.
I want my Mommy!
I wonder if you have strep throat. It's going around.
GVSU, thinking of you today! Hope the transition goes smoothly.
Deeder, feel better soon!
I also don't celebrate Cinquo de Mayo. I guess I don't celebrate much, now that I think about it. I've never celebrated either Cinquo de Mayo or St. Patrick's Day. I'm lame.
Uh oh! Here we go! Haha
just kidding!!!
Can't wait to start giving you ideas! What are you thinking? Week away? Weekend getaway? Domestic? International?
Ha! Oh, don't worry, I have no shortage of ideas!
Here's the catch: I told B that if he's interested in going on vacation this year, he has to take the initiative and select a destination. I told him that I'm more than happy to help give suggestions, do some research, ets., but he has to answer all of your questions above, and ultimately make the decision.
We got in a giant fight a few months ago about vacations, and that was the result. He always acts like I'm dragging him on vacation, so I told him I won't do that this year. If he wants a vacation, he can let me know. That's part of the reason I went on vacation with my mom in February.
HOWEVER, next year I turn 30 (boo, hiss!). When B turned 30, we went to Vegas to celebrate. He had been wanting to go to Vegas, and I didn't, but it was his birthday gift. He has recently mentioned that for my birthday next year, he's be willing to go to Europe, which is something that I've been wanting to do forever, but he hadn't. So... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that actually happens! I could start researching that, but I'm currently overwhelmed by the thought of it. And honestly, I don't want to get to excited about it at this point in case it doesn't happen.
Soooo...does this mean you have to wait for him to want to go on vacation? (Boo) Or are you going to plan one with girlfriends or your mom or something else?
And YAY for Europe on your 30th! That is what we are going to do too! I picked Ireland. (I have 3.5 yrs left to plan though...haha.
<---just teasing, 30 looks GREAT on all of my friends, so I'm not worried about it at all, and you shouldn't be either! *wink*)
Ummmmmmmmmmmm a co-worker had a baby this morning. The name? Jubilee May.
lmao...what?!?!?!?!?
Dislike.
wow lol
It's horrible. I feel SO bad for that baby already, and it's only been alive for 7 hours.
Yep, if we go on vacation sometime this year, he has to tell me that he's interested in doing so. We'll see if/when that ever happns. I'm not planning anything else with my mom or friends this year, since I just vacationed with my mom a couple of months ago.
Neat, that you're doing this too! How come you decided on Ireland?
Want to help me decide where to go? The problem is, I want to go everywhere! So, I'm overwhelmed. Here's what I know:
- We'll probably have about 10-12 days available (including travel days).
- We can go pretty much any time next year. My birthday is in August, and while it would be nice to be there on my actual birthday, I understand that August isn't a great time to travel to Europe. So, we can go at some other point in the year.
- I want to go somewhere where it won't be too challenging for us to figure out how to get around.
I have adored all things British since I was 14 and have always wanted to go there. That has only been reignited by the recent royal wedding.
However, part of me wants to go somewhere more "exotic" like France or Italy or Greece. I've also heard good things about Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. And Switzerland looks gorgeous.
I'm not sure if I want to spend the whole time in one country, or try to hit up two (or even three?!) countries.
Any thoughts? I'm open to suggestions.
Awww, hugs GVSU. They will be okay too, even with any negative that might happen at a center. I bet they're already had to deal with the other sister not wanting to play and things of that nature too. It is really sad to think that that's just a normal part of growing up - that it's just guaranteed to happen. :-(
Deeder - Feel better! I was fighting the same thing this week.
In other news, we are planning to go to Heffron Farms to pick up a chicken to smoke for MomDay. Then there was Groupon for it yesterday - $10 for $20 of meat at HF. Then Andy tried to buy it at 8 am and it was sold out already. Grrrr.
The Groupon sold out? I didn't know that was possible.
This reminds me that I need to buy today's Groupon. I will be attempting to golf again this year.
Ok, so almost 2 weeks . . .
That's tough, and I would either split it in the UK or split it on the continent, personally.
If you did UK:
Maybe 5 days in London (plus any smaller side trips to Stonehenge or whevs), 2 days in Scotland, 3 days in Ireland (plus 2 travel days). Obviously you'd only be getting a taste of each location, but travel is fairly easy/cheap.
If you did Europe:
I would pick 2 countries that are semi-close and spend 5 days in each - so Italy and Greece or Belgium and Germany or some combo like that.
That's just what I would probably do, given those constraints and if you think you might not get the H to go out there any time soon after I'd put 2 countries in the agenda. I prefer to stay in one country for a long time, but that's because I know the H and I like to travel so we'll always be back.
Cha - me neither! And so quick too - but it said something like, 500 purchased and then where you would normally click to get the deal it said sold out.
My birthday is in August too! I was planning on going on my actual birthday.
I started rambling off suggestions, but its too hard. There isn't a country in Europe that I would want to miss, so it's too hard to pinpoint what you should do. Ha! Sorry.
Why?! WHY?!
Yuck, that sounds annoying.
Thanks for your thoughts on this! Very helpful.
I'm in a really horrible mood. I can't wait for 5 o'clock, and dinner and drinks.
Go check this out and then feel better:

Thank you. That was awesome.
