Do you think that Bin Laden's pictures of his capturing be released? Why or Why not?
Re: QOTD
this
i thought they already said there weren't releasing them?
on the same note, i was reading an article on rollingstone.com which had extremely graphic pictures of people who had died out there. there was a warning and i ignored it. those images have been haunting me for 2 days. enemy or not, it was horrific.

I think they may, eventually, but only b/c the country has no faith in their government anymore.
I don't think it will do much, except maybe give Obama a bit more steam for 2012, but otherwise, the current government is in some hotshit.

This. I don't think releasing them would have convinced the non-believers. Personally I was worried if they did release the pictures if we would see threats against our country.

I think some people need to see the pictures for closure. I don't personally want to see the pictures because I truly believe he is dead, but for several of the 9/11 victims, I would think seeing the pictures of him dead would bring more closure.
Shaina, do you mean our current government is in hotshit, or another government? I don't get why our government would be in hotshit: it's been a goal for our government since 1998 to capture/kill Bin Laden. They did it. Even though reports say Bin Laden was unarmed, I'm sure his minions were shooting at everyone protecting him. He was a horrible, cruel, heartless, gutless, puss-bucket, sorry excuse for a man and us killing him is saving the lives of thousands. IMO.
I have a spin-off for this QOTD that could breed good discussion.....
I voted for Obama and I still stand by that choice and I will vote for him again in 2012. Les didn't vote for either one of the presidential candidates in 2008 because he was kind of "eh" about either one. I asked him the other day if elections were tomorrow, would the recent events change his mind and sway his vote toward Obama. He said yes, for sure.
How do you feel? If you were kind of "eh" in the last election, is your mind changed?
ETA: How do you feel? If you were kind of "eh" in the last election, is your mind changed? Obama scared me then, he scares me even more now. Most of my friends in the military feel the same way. His lack of military knowledge/experience is very unnerving (sp?). I did not vote for him and will not if he runs again.
This is why I am not a fan. He has way too little experience for my taste given the dire circumstances of our economy and national security.
For those who say, but he got Bin Laden... Yeah pretty sure it was our national intelligence team that got him, not Obama personally.
I am not sure whom I will vote for. I really don't see any good republican candidates out there
Word.
I did not vote for Obama but it was a last minute decision because I really was just so ticked that Palin was on the ticket. Nothing from the recent events has made my opinion of him change though. I still think he is inexperienced and sometimes seems to lack confidence (maybe -can't really put my finger on it). I don't hate him as president by any means though, hope this is wishy washy enough for everyone. LOL
This exactly. I think those images would stick with me too much.

I did not vote for him last time and I do not plan on voting for him the next time around either. Like Shelley and Alicia said, his lack of experience is scary. I also do not feel like he or his presidency are doing much for our economy. I do have a fear that no good republican candidate will emerge for 2012.
Alicia is right though, Obama did not get Bin Laden, inteligence did that.

I agree with whomever said it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't. There will always be doubters out there, even if the photos are released they would question the authenticity of them. I believe that the president has reasons for not releasing them, and it's ok if he doesn't share those exact reasons. I don't need to see the pictures to believe he is dead.
As for the other question. I voted for Obama in 08, and I will vote for him in 12. Am I blown away with what he has done so far in his administration? No. But he was handed a load of crap when he took office and he has done his best to do what he can with what he was handed. Personally I think a lot of the lack of being able to get things accomplished stems from Congress. I was totally unimpressed with the Dem controlled congress, and well even less impressed with the Rep. controlled HoR this half of term. There is so much work that needs to be done on bipartisan politics and we are going to keep slipping into the abiss until we can learn to work together.
I don't see any Republican candidate so far that would be able to take my vote. I also don't agree with a lot of the fundamental beleifs of most Republicans, and fear for some of my freedoms if a republican were to take office with the republican controlled HoR.

Very true, and I won't argue with that because our fearless military are the ones who "got" him. However, as commander and chief, he did give the order.
True but any president with half a brain could have given that order
I just LOL'd at my desk...luckily I have my own office.
Stacey, you are right that it was our military, and they were pretty freaking amazing!

I try to stay out of political discussions because, I admit, I'm pretty ignorant to the subject. I have zero interest in politics, which I know is awful. Drew's side of the family, including his extended family, are huge in politics. He has cousins that work in DC and uncles who are personal friends with past presidents. I only vote so that I don't get stoned by them.
I believe that at this point, any president is doomed for failure. It's going to take a lot for a current or future president to make positive changes to this country. The unemployment rate is awful, the national debt is astronomical. I have respect for anybody who wants to step up and take the challenge of trying to fix this country.

I don't think the pictures should be released because there are plenty of idoits out there that would do god knows what with them and it would reflect poorly on the US. It wont appease the nay-sayers and I can't say if a picture would ever bring closure to someone (it wouldn't for me). I see no benefit to releasing them. Even if they were released, I wouldn't want to see them.
