Last night FI poured some milk by the fridge and I guess a drop made it on the floor because this morning ants were ALL OVER IT. Lots of them.
I sprayed them with windex to kill them since we don't have anything else in the house.
What's the best way to get rid of ants?
Re: UGH! We have ants.
Cinnamon? That is interesting.
I had this happen at my cat bowl. At the time the house was less than a year old so I was really surprised that ants could find their way in (should not have been cracks yet). I am a freak about ants. Like I will freak out if one is on the floor and want to cry if there is several.
I didn?t have anything else and used Windex the first time too! I let my husband try some ant poisons....but they came back everyday). I finally called an exterminator....I know that is extreme, but I can?t handle ants. I paid around $200/year and he come four time a year and will come back if you ever find any bugs in your house. I have never had any kind of crawling but in my house since.
It didn?t seem fair to me that my cat wouldn?t be able to eat whenever he wanted since he had always been able to.

Salt has worked really well for me. I would never use it outdoors (harmful to plants), but for inside use, it was perfect.
I got the idea from another nestie.
Just clean your house really well, and pour some common table salt around your baseboards, in front of your fridge, near your cat's dining area, etc. I don't know if the salt is bad for your cat, so ask the vet before you go nuts with it. Anyway, for some reason, it worked better for me than any pesticide, and it cost less than a dollar to try. I have no idea if it works on all species of ants, but it worked for me.
I've heard the cinnamon idea too. I didn't try the cinnamon because I was afraid it would stain my carpet.
I wonder if it's just powders in general that they can't stand. I don't know.
This. My parents used to get ants all the time and this is the only thing that worked. GL!
I moved my cat's food to the upstaris of our house. No matter what I did I could not keep them out of the dish. My cat won't eat his whole meal in one sitting so this was the best solution.
