Mom's: Seperation Anxiety??
So since TJ has been sick(started Sunday afternoon), he has been very clingy, especially with me. It has gotten to the point where he will cry whenever I leave. He is fine when I'm around, doesn't really need to be in the same room as I am, but if he knows I'm going to leave he starts bawling his eyes out. He is even doing it when I leave him at my parents house(they watch him 2 days a week) and when I leave him with my husband. I don't know if it is because he isn't feeling well and i just make him feel better or if this is the start of seperation anxiety. He doesn't do it for anyone else but me. He has started to "shy away" from people he doesn't know, and wants me to hold him when he is somewhere he doesn't know, which makes me think this isn't just because he is sick. Any advice to help this situation? He will be going back to the babysitter tomorrow and I'm really worried about how he will be, not to mention it is extremely hard for me to leave when he is crying, holding his arms out for me and I can't grab him up and love on him. Breaks my heart everytime I leave

Re: Mom's: Seperation Anxiety??
yeah totally normal... could be worse because he's sick right now, and a little more cuddling at home won't hurt, but definitely don't drag out goodbyes.
What helped my kids during that stage was to constantly be talking about what we were doing, where we were going, when I'd be back... and doing anything but ignoring that behavior actually encouraged it and made it worse.
GL... The good news is all these phases are temporary! But you know it seems like the next phase is always worse...
Ditto to what Laurie said. When I wake B2 up in the morning, I talk about what we are going to do that day. I tell we have to get up and get dressed b/c of ________. Then I ask if that sounds fun. While he is getting dressed we learn how to count and spell his name. When we are in the car I ask if he knows were we are going. I tell him I have to work.
When I drop him off I ask for a kiss goodbye, tell him to be good and I will see him later. Then I leave. I dont leave time for tears. I know that sounds mean, but it's what worked when he became clingy after I went back to work.
He'll get on a schedule and know that you are coming back each day.
GL, and hope the phase passes quickly for you.

It's just a phase. It's a sucky phase though.
lol.
B went through this. She had been going to the sitters since she was 3 months old and last summer she would start to cry before we even left the house to go to the sitters. Best thing and it's very hard as a parent, but take him in to the sitters. Give him a kiss and say I love you and I will be back later to get you and walk out. Don't sit around and try to calm him down. It will just prolong it all and make it worse. A few times of doing this and we were back to normal.
Good luck!
