  • Boys: (and yes, I know they are similar and some may flame me for it, but I really like them and I think they are different enough esp. the nicknames)

    Attison Neely and Harrison James

    Girls:

    Edyn Autumn and Ginevra Lee

(nicknames would be: Atti/Tison, Harry, Edy or Ginny)

  • For a girl I really like C/Katherine, but I struggle with a middle name, and I like it with a 'C' as a full name, but a 'K' for nicknames so I'm torn.  I think I'm pickier with girl's names.

For a boy I always wanted Brian Christopher, but that won't work for us because there's a famous person with that first / our last combo, plus Christopher is younger BIL's first name AND older BIL's middle name.  Now I'm thinking Ryan Andrew or Andrew Ryan...or either of those as a first name with some other middle name.

I try not to think about it TOO much since it's so far off, but I do have specific 'rules' to follow - I like names that can be made into nicknames (there are a lot for Catherine) but not that are already nicknames (i.e. naming your kid 'Katie').  Nothing that starts with an 'M' because I don't like the alliteration (last name starts with M). No sharing names with current family members.  And of course there are a ton of names I don't like because of people I associate with those names!

Ugh, H and I can't agree on anything!  I realize this is maybe just names WE like, but now that this is becoming real, it's hard to not just move on from a name when we disagree on it.

My old favorites are Graham Davis or Davis Blair (H's middle name and a family surname).  He hates both!

For a girl, I like C/Katherine, nickname Kate.

  • Jessie--LOVE finnegan!  LOVE!

for boys, we decided on a name long ago and stopped really looking...but then yesterday i played around on the social security site and discovered that the name we chose for a boy is actually a GIRLS name!  im scared to tell gerren, he LOVES the name...boy-sage michael.

if gerren and i decide sage michael is too much of a girls name, then names i like (gerren doesnt) are ethan, elliot, and elijah.  and now finnegan thanks to jessie :)

girl-violet, rose, ruth, molly, emma, emily, lillian, layla, and gabriella

ETA: marissa, thank you for reminding me--daisy is also on my list for a girl!

    Girls: Olivia Ann, Olivia Marie

LOVE olivia, but i feel like it is too close to "olive" which is my goddaughters name...?  but now i want to add olivia back to my list!

  • We've both agreed on first names for boy and girl but not middle names.

    Boy: Jason

I have forever wanted Jason Luke but Jeremy hates it and wants to use his middle name "Alan". I just don't like the two "n"s for first and middle name. I like Andrew with it but he's not a fan.

    Girl: Kara

We're torn on middle names. We both love Elizabeth and Ann. I'm skeptical about Elizabeth because of our already 11 letter last name. I love Ann because it's my middle name too but it's also his mother's (and grandmother's) and I don't want his mother thinking the girl was named after her (I'm a ***, I know).

Not that  you should care about my opinion, but FWIW I don't think they're too similar.  They both end in 'son' but they don't really rhyme, IMO, and I think they go together nicely.  I just don't like Cayden and Brayden or Addison and Madison.

    Nora MyMaidenName

MFD is a junior so a boy would be another Michael Francis.

Greg is not a junior but him and his dad are both Greg. Greg now wants a Junior, I do not want a JR I will probably compromise with Gregory differentmiddle, because I really want James as a middle after my grandpa.

  • I personally hate junior names, and this one would be a turd. III. Whatevs. MFD doesn't feel strongly about many things, unfortunately this is one of them.

i feel the same way as you.  i hate juniors.  fortunately, mr. g and i have no jr.s in our family.  gerren wants to use his fathers middle name for a son's middle name, as his middle name is his fathers first name.  i could give two shlts.

  • Im also on the anti jr bandwagon. My dad and grandpa both have the first name and it is still such a hassle for both of them! Thank goodness Toby wants to use his great uncles name as a middle so Im ok with that.
  • Ohhhh I love thinking of baby names!

DH and I have decided to stick with C & K names, since we both start with C & K.

For our boy name... we have had this picked out for years! Long before we even got engaged... boy is Keaton William (William after his dad)

For girls we like Charlotte Jean or Cassidy Jean (Jean is mine and my mom's middle name and was my grandma's first name)

I also agree. I use to get so confused intill I learn Gregory was mine and Greg was hers. Imagine if there was a 3rd one..

  • I have always been against naming a child jr., but DH is one...for some reason it really works and I like it for him - but I would still never do a jr. or III for a son. Also, I think it works out because everyone calls his dad Cheech...
