Disappointed, no word from two interviews

I had two interviews a few weeks ago.  I felt both went really well.  I followed up with thank yous to both.

The first one didn't give me a date or time frame of when a decision could be made. It sounded like he was trying to change the position and hadn't hashed it all out yet.  He did acknowledge my thank you.

The second one told me that they expect to make a decision by the following Wednesday.  That was a week ago.  She never acknowledged my thank you.  I waited until this past Monday (5 days after expected decision) and sent a follow up email touching base and asking the status of the position etc.  Again, no acknowledgment of email and the position is still listed as open.

Frustrating!  I know I'm new to this since I was at my last company for 20 years, but this is just nuts. Funny thing about job #2 is that a lot of the stress in the interview was about following up on contacts etc.  Yeah, I hope she takes her own advice about that.

  • I'm sorry- that is so frustrating :(

I know it's a random question- but have you checked your Spam box in your email?

I interviewed once and informed applicants that if they got the job, they would get a call, and if they did not, I would send them an email by the next day.

2 days later I got a nasty email from one of the former applicants that I had rejected and sent an email to. She told me I was extremely unprofessional and untrustworthy and needed to learn interpersonal skills because I did not follow through with my promise- after all, we shook hands and I promised to inform her either way.  Well, I went through my sent email and found the email I'd sent to her, then forwarded it to her apologizing for any miscommunication- for some reason she never emailed back.

  • I always check and clear my spam folder. Nothing there.

Sorry :(  It was worth a shot!

Sorry you're having such frustration- maybe #1 will come through and they're just taking their time.

  • Honestly I would assume you didn't get it. Especially if they gave you a date of when they hoped to make a decision. Its the reality that you will apply for so many jobs and most won't even respond they got your resume and tell you if they are not interested.

That's my thought. It was my 2nd interview with the company. The first two interviewers responded to my email right away, but they weren't the "boss.". Oh well.
