am i right to be this sad

My parents (mom and step dad that has raised me) are getting a divorce. He moved to Arkansas and I never get to see him. My mom tries to pull me to her side and he tries to pull Me to his, you know the usual. But I miss my step dad. He's the man who raised me and taught me everything. He took an extra tour in Iraq so I could do extra circular activities, hes done everything for me and now he thinks I hate him. he has been in and out of the hospital for the last two months on top of it. I could never hate that man. He called me tonight under a blocked call so I didn't answer and left me a really sad message that made me cry. Fi told me everything will be fine but I'm not so sure it will be, he doesn't want to come back and I want my family whole again. I feel like I should be a young girl going through this with all my feelings. I've tried calling him several times and his phone is off. I just can't stop crying. I want my dad back :(

  • Yes, it is very sad. But I am glad you got connected, too.
My darling daughter just turned 4 years old.
  • Anytime a marriage ends it is sad, and I am sorry for you, and them that this has happened. Trying not to sound corny, just because your mom divorces him, he is still your dad, maybe not your bio-dad but what you two share goes deeper than DNA, and I can tell by how upset you say he is over how he thought you hated him that he feels the same way.

You may have to politely explain to your mother that you love her and that you will be there for support, but you love him too and HE is your daddy rather they are married or not and that you do not want to be pulled in the middle and feel pressured to choose. I really think although she may be angry with him, she was there all those years and saw what a good father he has been to you so maybe she will ease off putting you in the middle. They are both dealing with alot so be patient, but reassure them that you love them both and that your relationship with either one of them will not change. Good Luck

  • That is sad!  But just try and be open with him and tell him how you feel.  Just make sure he knows you care and work on your relationship from far away!  GL!
