Do you have your baby book?

Sorry for the BR post. I lied. I'm not really sorry, I'm curious. I'm trying to get my act together to finish up DS's for his birthday, but I need motivation.

Did your parents have a baby book for you when you were little?

Do you have it now, or do your parents still have it?

How detailed was it?

If you do have it, is there anything you wish they had included?

I found mine when my parents moved 3 years ago.  My mom filled out the initial info -- date, time, weight, length, etc.  She filled in a few other things here and there, but it was like 90% blank.  I kept it, but I really wish it had been filled out more.  That's just not how my mom is, so I'm not surprised....

  • Yes my parents did one for me - they gave it to me when they moved down to Florida.  It was pretty detailed, being the first child they had more time to do that stuff.  They included when I reached milestones so it's been fun to compare it to Dayne.

How detailed was it? Very detailed.

If you do have it, is there anything you wish they had included? I wish my mom would have spelled my name correctly when she wrote in it.  She claims she was just "tired".  I think she really forgot how to spell my name...haha

  • Did your parents have a baby book for you when you were little? I do though it's not the most completely filled out it's decent

Do you have it now, or do your parents still have it? I have it

How detailed was it? Whoops (see also above), most of the pages were completed but there are only two pictures, one of our house and and one of me that is it.

If you do have it, is there anything you wish they had included? I wish there would have been more pictures in it with them and me together. I think they also stopped filling it in after about 6 months with the exception of my 1st birthday.

I just had to reply to this because my baby book was like finding a lost treasure for me. I still get incredibly giddy seeing my mom and dad's handwriting on the pages for stuff strictly related to me.

What one did you end up deciding on for Dayne? Did you end up geting one from Etsy?

  • Same as pp. My mom filled out name, date, weight, height, hospital born at and my newborn picture. I really wished she filled out more too. I have been slacking on Chloe's and this post makes me want to go fill out more now.

Hahahaha. I spelled my mom's name wrong when I was filling out the grandparents section of Landon's. Embarrassed

  • No baby book or albums for me.  I don't blame my Mom though.  Things were difficult/different when I was young.  I think DH has one though, I don't know if I've ever seen it.

I am still trying to get Brendan's together Sad  I hope to complete it up to present while I'm on maternity leave.

I actually found a really cute one at Borders - who knew they had a stockpile of them?

Do you have it now, or do your parents still have it? I have it now, and my sister's because I took them from her house.  I don't think she knows that I have them.

How detailed was it? Mine was decently detailed until about age 6, after that it was hit or miss.  My sister's was pretty bare after 1 year.

If you do have it, is there anything you wish they had included? I wish she would have kept going, but she was busy.  I am actually in the process of redoing them.  This has been a 5 year project in the making.  I hope to have them done by mother's day next year.  I also plan to do a digital version for my dad.

How detailed was it? I'm the second child...so not as detailed as my older sisters.  Hers was really detailed.

If you do have it, is there anything you wish they had included? Monthly pictures of me.

Did your parents have a baby book for you when you were little?Yes, they have a really nice book filled with dates and stories of major developmental events.

Do you have it now, or do your parents still have it? They still have it.

How detailed was it? It is pretty detailed.  They even included all of the cards that they received when I was born, along with the birth announcement.

If you do have it, is there anything you wish they had included? I don't have it and I haven't' looked at it in quite a while.  I love the funny stories though.  My favorite entry is actually in my brothers book it said something along the lines of: "7 weeks, first real smile that wasn't related to gas"

How detailed was it? Pretty detailed, considering I was #2

If you do have it, is there anything you wish they had included?  She got all the high points.  I wish there would have been more about her pregnancy in there, but she just told me everything.

MIL won't give us DH's for whatever reason.  She is such a freak about things.

If you do have it, is there anything you wish they had included?  There were lots of sections on Mom and Dad's hopes and dreams for you...or like Mom's name choices and Dad's name choices. My mom filled it all out, but my dad's parts are blank. They weren't divorced yet at that point, so I just seems kind of dumb that he didn't participate...or that my mom didn't make stuff up for him.

  • My mom still has it, but will give it to me when I have somewhere to put it (our house is still a mess).  If memory serves, it's pretty detailed, and I love looking through it.  :o)
  • Did your parents have a baby book for you when you were little? Yes

Do you have it now, or do your parents still have it? I have it.

How detailed was it? Not very. It is very detailed regarding birth stuff and family tree and stuff.  And a few developmental milestones. But then it has a TON of pictures.

If you do have it, is there anything you wish they had included? Probably just some more details or commentary on the pictures. It would have been fun to know how they were thinking or feeling.

On a side note, I also have the wall calendar from the year that I was born. It's kind of fun!  It has doctors appointments listed and some info - like first time she felt me kick, or when she thought she was going into labor but didn't. It was a cool find!

Do you have it now, or do your parents still have it? I saw it once. They still have it.

How detailed was it? Since I only ever saw the cover and the one page with my baby feet prints on it, I'm really not sure.

Do you have it now, or do your parents still have it?They have it

How detailed was it?Not very, it's more of a photo album with the stats on me when I was born, pics of my mom pregnant and me when they were first holding me

If you do have it, is there anything you wish they had included?

Not really, they also have a "school days" book for me which has a picture for every year of school and it says who my teacher was, who my friends were, etc. My sister and I looooved looking at those, they were so much fun! And we actually filled them out for a LONG time, maybe all the way through high school.

Do you have it now, or do your parents still have it?   My mom has it, but she has a ton of boxes for me when we move so I'm sure I'll be getting it.

How detailed was it? I think she stopped around 6 months or so.

If you do have it, is there anything you wish they had included?  I wish she would have gone farther with it.

  • I have mine - but my mom didn't make it, a firend she used to work with when we lived in New York when I was little made it for her.  So it only goes up until I'm about 2.  It's pretty detailed though and lots of pictures!  I wish it went farther - but my mom took tons of pictures growing up, so it is actually kind of fun now scrapbooking together and doing all the pictures of my child hood with her where the baby book left off.

My brother on the other hand - asked for his about a month ago because he wanted to see it - she never made him one, so since I'm the big scrapbooker, I am working on it to give it to him at Christmas - my brother is 21... she's trying to not make him or herself feel better about it by constantly bringing up that she didn't do mine, someone offered to do it for her Embarrassed

I have vowed to make my future children baby books that document at least the entire first year so I don't have to go through this...

  • mine was pretty hit or miss but my mom has always filled out calendars.  she said she hung a calendar above our cribs and would write in that what we did each day.  i've started doing the same thing for madelyn and then i just grab the calendar and fill in her baby book each month.  makes remembering the dates a lot easier.
