D&J just made me look back at the broken bone post. How the heck did you get your sternum broken by a police baton in a raid???

Re: *City*
I used to hang out a lot in Manhattan's Lower East Side.. a fairly unsavory part of NYC until about 3 years ago. One night a bunch of us had been at a show, and afterwards, the band had set up in the park that was nearby the venue. This was quite common in the late 90's. Also common at the time was police officers covering their faces and sheilds and doing surprise raids. I was lying back on a bench, with my head in a friends lap dozing off.. when all of a sudden there was screaming and running and I caught a nightstick to my stenum. I started screaming that I was a cop's kid and pulled out my uncle's sheild. The rookie cop grabbed me, and I thought I was done for, but he tossed me into a subway and told me to get the heck home.
I was lucky to get out with just a broken breast plate. Some of my friends got it a lot worse. I haven't hung out in that area, or with those friends, since. Gawd my hands won't stop shaking.
They can do a raid.. Usually they need a warrant, but I don't think it's always necessary. However, they are never allowed to cover their faces or badges (undercover with sheild hidden is one thing, full uniform is another and undercover has to identify themselves as police before takin action) And they're never supposed to use force on unarmed individuals.
