I'm thinking of getting my mom one for Mother's Day. She travels to visit her b/f and I know that she usually takes a book or two with her for the flight. Can you educate on these, please?

Re: E-reader ladies...
I have a Kindle and I love love love it! I'm not sure what all you want to know about it, but it's been awesome. I love to read and can finish a book in a day if I had the time, but I never had time to go to the book store to get any new ones. By having this, I can get online either on my home computer or on the wifi that is built into the Kindle, go to the Amazon website and pick any book I want. It's uploaded to my device in just a few minutes. You can get a lot of books for free on the site, but the price of books is usually $5 to $10. It's cheaper than what you would get a bestseller for in a store. You can also get online (as I mentioned above), download newspapers, magazines, etc. I even have a crossword puzzle book on mine, haha! It can hold hundreds of books.
My mom has the nook color and loves it just as much. I don't know which one is "better" per say, but I think she can "share" books with friends...I'm not sure if I can do that with my Kindle or not. Maybe I just haven't figured that option out yet!
I really do love the ease of it and how long it stays charged. I would definitely recommend it. My mom and I both love ours.

Love the 3G. And girl, look on ebay for a cover!! I bought one for my mother for $15 I think...no need to spend $60!
Ebay was going to be my next stop for a cover. Can you get the Kindle's anywhere besides ordering off of Amazon? Basically, is there anyway to save me from my last minute self? Haha!

I don't know about anywhere...I've only seen them on ebay and on the amazon site. That's probably because it is an amazon product. Don't know of any stores that have them. I know Barnes and Noble sells Nook covers in the stores. Not sure if they'll fit the Kindle, but they're just as expensive.
You will be able to get them from Walmart soon but so far its still just Amazon. Amazon is fast with delivery (even if you don't have prime like me
)
YES, I totally think the 3G is worth it.
ETA: I'm dumb, I just re-read that it's for Mother's day - nevermind - Amazon isn't THAT fast.
I saw on the news yesterday that Target sells Kindles!
They do! Thanks for the tip. I'll have to go pick one up soon.
