How do you make extra money?

Hello!

I'm kind of in a hole with credit cards, and I just can't seem to get caught up. How do YOU make extra money? (Consider stripping OUT THE DOOR! sorry! lol) BUT Seriously, if you sell on esty... what do you sell and how much extra do you exactly make? What are other ways you make extra money? I could use some extra money BAD.. (just as if i'm sure everyone else can) Hope someone can help with this dilemma in all seriousness! Thanks everyone.

Re: How do you make extra money?

  • I tutor a 3rd grader in reading  1 night a week for an hour (extra 20 bucks a week)

I sell my old clothes/shoes/purses to a local shop (that can range from $15-$80 depending on what I have and what they want)

I have sold my old broken gold jewelry (price ranges, for 2 rings and a couple oddball earrings I got $60...this was before the price of gold shot up)

Since I am in school I apply for scholarships/awards because you wouldn't believe the amount of lazy people there are out there who just don't apply. I applied for 6 awards this semester and received 3 of them so far.

If I want to eat out/go shopping, I think of what else I can use that  money for and then ACTUALLY DO IT!

    Sell stuff on craigslist

  • My sister in law just took all her old, broken gold jewelry that she doesn't wear anymore and sold it to a jewelry shop- she expected 100 bucks at most, but they gave her 750!

  • Gold is at about $1500/ounce...I should have waited just a couple months more! Also, we return bottles and return our change at the bank or the coinstar at the grocery store. Every little bit helps!

  • Once I my classes are over I plan on selling some things on ebay. I also plan on selling some of my gold, which I have done in the past as well and I have some jewelry with stones that I plan on selling to a place that accepts diamond as well.

I also work a second job.

  • I pick up weekend shifts as a casual contractor at a local community center. Found that spot because I previously volunteered there and popped in one day and asked if they hire for weekends. I work maybe 2-3 shifts a month for an extra $80-100 per shift.
  • I have my own tax business on the side and do about 35 individual tax returns during the season, I also do some light cleanup/bookkeeping for a select group of clients. I recycle our cans/bottles, sell stuff we don't use on craigslist/ebay.  We are also going to have a yard sale soon to get rid of some of our older furniture and misc. items that we had prior to getting married and before we had money!

  • How about those paid focus groups?  I think in my city they pay anywhere from $50-150 and dont' take much time or effort.  I
  • I ran into a rough spot for a few years...unstable jobs and the like.  I bartended part time (on my busier nights - I worked in a bowling alley - I'd bring home between $150 and 200 in tips).  I also worked part time for a former employer on the weekends during the day.

  • I picked up a job as a waitress one night a week, but I have background waiting tables.

  • I'm a Pampered Chef consultant on the side. I do it at my own leisure - have 1-2 shows every month or so (lately like 1 every other month - I'm not motivated). Depending on the size of the show, you could make an extra $100-200 a month. If you have more shows, then you can make even more.

I'm a Thirty One consultant and like the poster above me, I do shows every so often and bring home $300+ a month (since I started in January).  And I love the stuff, so it's not too hard to sell it!  :)

  • I write for Demand Studios.  I actually worked on a special project and wrote several articles that appear on the Nest.
  • You can do online surveys for companies like Pine Cone Research. They pay $3 each, not a ton but a little extra dough. DON'T use Coinstar unless you want to pay them about 10%. Take change to the bank and you get back all your money.

  • I am a Pure Romance consultant and I make about $100 a party.
  • I got a weekend job doing promotions for a radio station. It's not a lot of $$ but there are perks! I also only work about 10 hours a weekend so it's not a big strain on my free time. :) I've sold clothes before to re-sale shops (like Plato's Closet) and when we have our date nights... we are usually using a Living Social or Groupon!

And I second the focus group idea! I do one about every six months and I have made a few hundred dollars! Just get on their mailing lists and you're bound to qualify for something.

  • Just to follow up on the focus group thing..I'm signed up with 3 companies.  I just got an email invite to one that's 5 minutes from my house for 1.5 hours and it pays $150.  They want my opinion about cell phones.
  • I tutor kids taking the SAT - I charge $50/hour.
