After driving a 1997 Honda for the past 15 years, we finally decided to get a new car. We bought a brand new 2010 car last Saturday (never been driven.)
Over the weekend, we got a few different random error messages, so we took it to the dealer on Monday. They identified the battery as the culprit, put in a new battery, kept it for another day to check it out, then returned it to me on Wednesday. I drove it home, no error messages. I didn't drive it on Thursday. Today, I pulled out of my backyard parking space, and I get the same damn error message.
I'm pretty ticked. This is a) inconvenient and b) REALLY UPSETTING. I just forked over serious dollars for a new car, and I have to take it to the shop twice in one week.
The salesman and the main service guy have been very helpful and concerned. But neither of them was in today. I had to call four times to get someone that was actually in, and none of the three people I talked to expressed any concern or apologized. WTF.
I haven't bought a car in a while, but has customer service gone out of style? You'd think they'd at least say they are sorry. The main service contact is back on Monday, so hopefully he will be able to determine what is wrong.
Honda/Acura aren't really known for lemons, but I'm becoming suspicious. If my beautiful new car is a lemon, I'm going to be REALLY ticked.

Re: Vent: brand new car in the shop
Agreed. It ought to work for at least five years without my even thinking about it I'm hopeful I'll get something good out of this -- like they'll have to upgrade the navigation system to the 2011 version or something to fix the error.
I'm certain it will work out. Maryland has lemon laws, and between me and my husband (an attorney), we are going to make sure this is rectified. It's just not something I want to worry about, especially on top of moving his injured grandmother down to DC from PA (which we are doing tomorrow.)
We just finished a big situation with a next-door neighbor who was insisting on burning fires in an illegally-installed fireplace that was -- literally -- slowly burning through our wall. Ultimately, it's fixed, but we had to deal with threatening letters and DCRA and a lot of aggravation. So this is not appealing right now!
Thanks for the kind words. Sorry for bringing Whine instead of Wine!
That suuuucks. Hopefully they'll be able to figure it out. If it happens again though, I'd start making some demands. Are they at least giving you a loaner?
What did you get?
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
Yes, they provide a loaner, thankfully. In the scheme of things, it's not that bad, and if I dind't have all this family stuff going on, it would be less annoying. But it's just a PITA.
Acura TSX. Entry level sedan, small enough to fit in our tiny DC parking spot!
