Mother's Day ?

What are you doing for your mom this weekend? A gift? A brunch?

I'll bring my mom some things to brighten up her hospital room - she'll hopefully be in a reg. room by Sunday. That woman. She's stretched a 1-day layover in ICU to Day 5 now. Confused

And I suspect a run to Goldberg's (to-go order!) for something brunch-ish.

You?

Meet Beyonce Jr.

Re: Mother's Day ?

  • I have 2 cards for my mom in my desk I've forgotten to mail, so mom will get them late (one jokey, one serious)

Sunday will be normal. The only difference is I'll be slightly bitter and sarcastic as they hand out flowers to all the women over 18 during church.

  • I saw my mom last weekend and gave her a card then. I'll give her a call on Sunday.

Whut? Indifferent Just because someone is over 18 doesn't mean they have kids? I mean I know y'all are Mormon, but that stereotype can't be true, can it?

We'll be with BF's family down south. I love his Mom, I can't imagine missing Mother's Day with her. Oh, and on an exciting note, we found out BF's sister is having a boy! I can't wait to start shopping to spoil my new "nephew".

ETA - to answer your question, I bought my Mom an apron that she received earlier this week. For BF's mom, we got her a Pandora bracelet, and a couple of charms, one is a grandmother charm. We thought for special occasions we can add to it.

Yes, us womens are nothing but breeders, lol!

It's really more of a PC "we don't want anyone to feel bad" sort of wimp out move. I refused to take a flower for years, but I gave in took one last year to make DH happy because in his words "You baby me."

I'm sorry. That does have to suck.

  • Gifts for mom & grandma. I sent them nice framed pictures of them with me at our wedding and a nice 8x10.  My mom wanted a large pic for her mantle and I know my grandmother would see it and be jealous so I got the same for her.

    Flowers for my MIL.

  • my grandmother can't leave her apartment anymore so we are all going to sit in her reallllly tiny one room place so she won't be alone. but this means we can't go out. so, i think we are eating bfast at the place she lives. the food is awful so I wanted to bring something but they were against it for some reason. my mom and i are taking a trip to charleston and isle of palms this summer. so part of that is her gift. her bday is also on sunday so for that, i got her some flip flops, a beach towel and other beachy items for the trip. i'm bringing my gma flowers.

for stepmom- i'll give her flowers when I see her Saturday at my step-niece's bday party.

  • my mil is flying in on mother's day. we got her golf shorts and 2 shirts and a book (from the entire family) and will take her to dinner.

sad i won't get to see my mom. i mailed her a card, but she won't tell me what she wants, so i have yet to get her something.

  • I stopped trying to give my parents Mother's & Father's Day gifts. They never want anything and whenever they do, they just get it themselves. I buy them things throughout the year instead - things my mom collects, stuff they need, etc. The card and call is more important to them anyway. I spend a lot of time picking out just the right card (which annoys DH!), as they do for me.
  • i'm hanging out with my mom tomorrow, going to a local craft fair, and then sunday i'm not sure what we're doing, but i'm so excited to give her the uga puzzle i got her!
  • A phone call is the most important thing to my mom, so I'll call her.
