Final update on truck/tools

Okay, I'm so tired of telling this story but since you guys have been in the loop I have to let you all know!

The police recovered the stolen truck out of a backyard off of 33rd street (in the ghetto).  The front of the truck had been cut off, the dash ripped out, and they were about to take out the motor.  Our toolboxes were gone as well as everything else off of the bed of the truck.  The police recovered our oxygen and acetylene bottles from the location (which belong to a company that we rent them from, so no replacing those thank goodness).  They used one of H's torches to cut off the front of the truck.  They found one other semi-$$ piece of equipment as well.

We recovered our welding machine from a construction rental equipment company--it was sitting in their lot.  Supposedly they bought it.  It is now in our possession.  The police are investigating their involvement, because that's also how they got the lead to the truck.  Scandalous.

One guy is being investigated, and the man who sold two of our tools to a pawn shop is currently in custody.

Luckily H's mom is getting compensated through her insurance for the truck, and we are waiting on a check from our insurance company.  It won't cover what we lost, but it's at least something.

Our last two weeks have been extremely dramatic. H is in TX so I'm somewhat relieved to have the house to myself and a little bit of calm.  I'm going out with a girlfriend tonight after a graduation party to have a couple drinks while tiny stays with a sitter.  It is much needed!

Re: Final update on truck/tools

  • Glad the truck and some of the tools were recovered. Hopefully the idiots who did this get what they deserve! Happy to hear things are finally getting worked out--sounds like you definitely need a night out!
  • I think you definetly deserve a night out. So very happy they found more of the equipment. Hopefully the guys they have in custody will be punished to the fullest extent.
