Please reassure me...

I was starting to post this on TK, but I really don't want to worry the girls... I very much need reassurance from the marrieds...

First of all, I LOVE Becky. So sweet, and I know she honestly wants to make my dress perfect for me. My dress required a lot of work (the salon had me order a dress that ended up being about 2 sizes too big, and I wanted the train cut off - with 3 layers of skirt), and reconstructing the bust was a big part of it. But I went to pick it up last night (for my bridals on Saturday) and the neckline was completely uneven. Like there was a giant dip in one side of the sweetheart neckline. I could tell while it was still on the hanger. She didn't acknowledge the issue until I pointed it out. I don't at all think she was trying to ignore the issue - my fear is that she actually didn't see it. Also, my veil was sewed on the comb sideways - and she didn't notice it either until I pointed it out. She promises she can fix it, and I SO want to believe her... but I'm really scared.

My fittings kept having to be pushed back for her various reasons (all seemed legit), so I'm sure she was very rushed. I know she spent 3 days straight on my dress (like I said it was a HUGE job), and my MOH keeps telling me that she probably spent so much time on it that she just wasn't stepping back to see the whole picture. Which I could believe... But I'm just still really nervous. My dress was a gift from my mom, and I can't afford to replace it. And I don't want to cause a problem for Becky, because I know she's trying really hard. I would just be devestated if it's ruined...

So anyway... I know a lot of y'all had great experiences. Please remind me of them. :) I'm trying to stay sane until 3:00, when I go back to see it.

Re: Please reassure me...

  • It will be fine!  She will fix it and it won't be a problem! :-)

I had her do my dress twice.  First for my bridals and then again when I lost some weight and needed it taken in before the wedding.  They both turned out great!  I promise your dress will turn out fine.  She really cares about everyone who comes there, so she would not ruin your dress and she would not let you leave unhappy!

Okay, deep breath.  I didn't use Becky, but from my experiences with tailors, and from sewing myself, it can be fixed.  I'm sure she was working to get everything done and did not have time to step back and look.  From what you described, those things can be fixed.  Stay calm, go back at 3 and see how it looks.

If for some odd reason it is not much better, then you need to discuss your concerns with her.  Be open and honest, that is how you will get them fixed.  That is hard to do, but the only way that you will get what you want!

I hope everything goes well this afternoon, and please let us know!

This could be the case but I wouldnt worry.  She truly cares about what she does and the girls she does it for, she will not let you take the dress for good unless you are completely happy with it.

  • Thanks everyone... I know she really wants to make me happy. She is the nicest person ever. I guess my concern right now is more skill level. I didn't take a picture if it, but... it was really bad. But all of the marrieds' dresses are beautiful and perfect, so I'm trying to remind myself of that! She was probably just stressed and rushed... I have to have faith that she'll fix it.

  • I wouldn't worry about skill, she actually custom makes dresses too.  She definitely has the ability. :-)
  • I'm sure she will fix it!  She did such a great job for me and my mom, and like everyone said she really does care so much about her brides!
  • Thanks again ladies! I got my dress back, and it looks much better. I really appreciate your comments.
