Ink in the dryer

that's right. ink in the dryer. i let a few ink pens escape my typically vigilant pre-washing inspection and they made it into the dryer. no damage was done to the washer, but the pens exploded in the dryer and now the inside of my dryer is covered in ink. i'm tempted to take a picture. you know what, i think i will.

oh heck. i don't know what i'm doing. i'm used to the little option that says "browse" that lets you pick your picture from your hard drive. just take my word for it- it's not good.

i have tried the mr.clean magic eraser, brillo pads, and mean green. the mean green did make the ink run in streaks down the inside of the dryer, but not too much wanted to come off on my rag.

any advice?

Re: Ink in the dryer

  • A friend of mine exploded a pen in my dryer. I almost killed her for it.

We used rubbing alcohol to get it out. There are still a few stains in there, but we got all the goo out and it doesn't stain my clothes anymore.

A word of caution with the alcohol though. It is highly flammable, and so is your dryer. Make sure you let it air out a couple days before using it again.

  • you're awesome. thank you so much!  been line drying all day- dog fur on everything (even baby clothes-driving me nuts) not coming off because it's not going through the dryer- thank you!

  • I am not sure if this will work with Ink but i know it works with crayon. You know the citrus/Orange scrub cleanser that mechanics use to get the grease off their hands? Try that! A crayon slipped past me in my mom and dads washer and then the dryer. It was a MESS!!! We tried EVERYTHING then someone suggested that stuff. It worked amazingly! There was still a few marks here and there but it got almost everything out! Good Luck!!
