Underwear question

Not that juicy, don't get excited. I was surprised once when the worker at Gap told me I could try on their undies over the undies I was wearing. Is this common, do you think? I always thought bottoms were one of those things you don't try on. I don't want to take some to the dressing room and have people look at me like I'm a creepy weirdo. It would be nice to know because goodness knows 75% of what I try on doesn't fit.

Re: Underwear question

  • I have NEVER heard that about undies. Just bathing suits.  Kinda creeps me out tho. Don't wanna think about someone else wearing my undies before me :(

  • I would never try on undies, even over my undies, or over my pants.  It's a little weird.

  • VS allows this as well...that's why I was before wearing! A while back walmart was busted for repackaging and selling dirty underwear...ew!

Actually VS was the bigger culprit in that. Most of Walmart Underwear is in packages not on hangers like VS.

  • I've been told I COULD NOT try them on in the past.  I don't get how that works.  Underwear is EXPENSIVE and REALLY hard to fit (IMO) so, I always end up buying what I've always bought.
  • I'll do that with bathing suits. I think I've done that once with underwear, trying on a pair over current pair only because when I lost weight, I needed to figure out what size to wear. I always wash new undies before wearing though.

  • I have tried on both underwear and bathing suits, over my own underwear. Then I always wash said items before wearing them at home.
  • I've never done that, but I guess it's  similar to trying on bathing suits over your underwear. I always wash everything too.

Bathing suits have those antibacterial strips in them though.
  • I wasn't even allowed to bring a pair into the dressing room at Nordstrom's.  It was part of set and they made me leave it outside.  When I'm paying $12 for a tiny scrap of fabric, I do want to know it fits though and they rarely do, thanks to the apparently rather unusual (or so the lingerie makers would have me believe) shape of my booty.

That's odd. That's where I buy underwear a lot of times and I've always been able to try it on.

  • I have never heard of being able to try on undies before you buy them. Like PP, I've only heard that about bathing suits. I'm not comfortable with the thought that someone trying on the undies before I buy them. Shudder.

That's true. I forgot about those.  It seems like so many of them always peel off by the time I am trying the bathing suit on.

  • OK, which stores let you try on undies? I can't afford to buy undies I'm only going to throw out.

  • Yep, I have over my own and don't see anything wrong with it. I used to work at a Gap and people did it all the time.

  • That's actually the standard practice I've always been told.
