FL Water Causes Diarrhea

That is what I read on the 0-3 month board. Seriously? Is it just me, or does this sound weird to you? The water tastes nasty, don't get me wrong, but that's because all of the sulphites FL has to offer. I would think that if the water causes diarrhea, the health department would be all over that.

I couldn't drink the water when I first moved down here because of the taste. I was used to my NJ well water. Now I drink it all the time and have never had a problem. My friend has a well up near Lake Magdalene and I can't drink his water because of the smell/taste, but treated water is fine by me!

Re: FL Water Causes Diarrhea

  • When I go to another state and drink the water I get diarrhea. It has nothing to do with Florida water, it is that your body is not used to the water elsewhere. FYI, GA water makes me the sickest. When I visit GA I only drink bottled water or soda while there.
  • Haha.  I was raised drinking FL and I am just fine.

However, we have issues with the drinking water in Texas.   There is a uranium plant about 3 miles from my house which has unfortunately polluted our drinking water source.  Within the last year the company who was running the plant went out of business and never finished cleaning up their mining fields.  Who knows when (or if) it will ever get done.  When new government employees (Navy, Border Patrol) relocate to our town they are advised not to drink the water because of this.  I swear, living in South Texas is like living in a third world country sometimes.

You learn something new every day! :) I had never heard of this before. I guess it's because of the different minerals and whatnot in different parts of the country.
