Hair salon recs

Hello Ladies!

OK I am in need of some hair salon recs in the Raleigh area.  Currently I go to the Samuel Cole Salon off of Six Forks and I truly love the color they do there, but I NEVER like the cut and everything is sooo expensive.  As much as I hate going somewhere new, I thought it would be good to get some recs of places you guys go to and trust in the area.  I know a lot of places are in the same price category (expensive!) but if anyone has had a great experience somewhere cheaper I would love to hear about it as well.  I live in the north Raleigh area but work both in Raleigh and in Chapel Hill so I might consider somewhere out in CH as well.  TIA!

Re: Hair salon recs

  • I had a good experience at Salon Blu in Brier Creek. Jessica K cut my hair and she did a great job. I liked that she was quiet so I didnt have to make small talk! :) She took a lot of time drying and styling.

  • I've been going to Sam and Bill's in Raleigh for almost 7 years now. No complaints.
  • I went to the Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill for the first time a few weeks ago and had a really good experience. My haircut there cost around $20 or maybe a few dollars more, and she did just about the same as my hair stylists that I had been paying $50-60. I'll definitely go back!
  • I went to Lindsey at Mitchell's on Six Forks (by the Borders) for years before I moved to GA and STILL make the trip to go to her now.  She does great color and cuts and even updos!  Unfortunately she's on maternity leave at this moment but should be returning in the next couple weeks.  Her cuts are around $40.  Worth every penny.
  • I usually go to the Lux Salon on Falls of Neuse.  Allison does a really good job and it's $40.  Last time I went to the Mitchell's Academy on Buck Jones Rd in Cary.  My haircut was lopsided and it took 6 hours (I kid you not) to do a haircut and foil highlight.  WORST MISTAKE EVER.

MrsHughes recomended Jessica at Salon Blu to me, too.  I have been REALLY happy with her so far.  She is very detail oriented and takes her time to do a precision cut.  She also takes her time to make sure she is blowing it out and styling it well.  Last time I was in, I asked her for some suggestions for my hair for a wedding I'm going to be in, and she showed me a few tricks to curl my hair.

If no one has offered yet, I have a referral card I can send you that will get you 25% off (and me too!).
