PSA: discontinuing infant Tylenol (APAP)

Just got an email from McNeil Pharm.... at the recommendation of the FDA, companies have been advised to discontinue their infant products (APAP, motrin, etc) and just have one concentration with appropriate dosing.  For instance, Infant Tylenol is going off the market and everyone will be using Children's with appropriate dosing.  They are expecting it as soon as this flu season.  Just wanted to give you a Mom's a heads up if you are looking for infant stuff soon and can't find it.  It looks like its an industry wide thing.

  • Good to know! Thanks for posting!

I still don't understand what really happened with that recall, and why Tylenol and Mortin haven't been producing the product, but the generic's are still around.

  • I went crazy the other day trying to find infant tylenol. By the 3rd pharmacy I decided to ask why it wasn't on the shelves and they told me about the recall.  I had to buy generic which isn't that bad.

  • My guess is that Tylenol just isn't producing much since it will be off the market soon, but I heard even the generics will be going to one strength.
  • I was trying to figure out why it was taking so long.  I have a coupon for a free one up to $10 and guess I'll be using it for Children's.
