Sorry Gabe isn't feeling well, that sucks!!  Especially when you don't have someone to lean on at home.

Nick was congested from his ear infection.  I bought the Vicks plug in for the outlet, and an hour before he went to bed, I plugged it in, and shut the door.  Once I put him in his room, he was able to sleep soundly and breath all night long without waking up.  It was the best $8 investment ($12 all together if you buy the extra cartridges)

Maybe that can help out Gabe...and you! Smile

Re: *Sheila*

  • I have the Vicks cool mist (and warm mist) vaporizers and I bought the Vicks pads that go with them to assist with the congestion.  I'm going to try it tonight.  I'm seriously dying today and I'm ready to kill the person who got him sick.  This is the 3rd time out of 3 times total of him being sick that he got it from that person.

Thanks for the suggestion :)  Did you just get it at CVS?  Gabe tends to not sleep well from the humming noise that comes out of the vaporizers, so I may stop on my way home and pick it up to try that too.  How's Nick feeling now??

  • I'm sure CVS has them.  Target is right next to my house, so I got it there.

I asked about using the vaporizer with Nick and the doc said with how humid and wet it is outside, that they vaporizer might make his allergies worse (something about mold spores, DH took him, so I didn't get the full story on that).  That's how I came up with the plug in route.  I also put a wedge in his crib to keep him elevated.  Although he never stays in one spot in there, but it makes me feel better.

Nick has a little cough left, but I think he has crap allergies like his parents :(  I'm sure his ear is cleared up.  I don't want to go back to him waking up every other hour, so I have used the plug in every night for almost a week.  Thanks for asking!

  • I think part of the reason Gabe was getting up was because it was soooo hot in our house last night.  I turned his fan on and that seemed to calm him down a bit, but I'm definitely trying the plug ins.  I didn't even think about the humidity!

I tried to elevate his mattress slightly, but that didn't really seem to help much.  Maybe I'll try and elevate it a bit more than it is now too.  I just hate this :(

  • Try using a pillow or rolled up blanket under the mattress and have it sit up higher on the one end.  When Nick was at, what I though, his worst, I had him sleep in his rock and play sleeper.

I hope he feels better soon!!!

  • Thanks Mary :)  I'll keep you posted on how the plug ins work!
