I always make Cole come for pedi apts where shots are involved, I can't go alone.

Landon got a pretty bad fever with the first round. I would make sure Jason has tylenol with him. I gave it to Landon after they took his temp but before the shots to help with the pain and try to keep the fever down.

  • I did and I didn't want to go - right now it makes more sense for Jason to take him because he passes by his parents house (where Dayne is during the day) to and from work.

Part of me wants to be there so I can comfort him but I know I'd just be a mess myself.  I cried when Dayne was screaming because he was constipated (TMI sorry) - his pain cries bring me to my knees.

  • I know what you mean. The cries are only for a short period of time after the shots. It's over very fast. Jason will do a great job!

Just remember that you are doing it to help him in the long run.You are a good Mom, and he will be okay. Just stay on the tylenol and be there to snuggle tonight.

  • I know - I have been dreading this appointment, I'm hoping he'll do better than I think and I'm worrying over nothing.  Thanks for the heads up.

  • Butting in - the shots aren't as bad as you are picturing them.  I thought it would be really bad.  Nick didn't figure out it hurt until they went after the second leg.  He cried more about getting the oral vaccine.  But he was all done crying in a minute.  I think it's worse the older they get!

I am going by myself for the 4 month shots and I am a lot more calm about it this time around.

And like Kendra said, just keep some Tylenol on hand, and have your in laws massage the area of his shots later on in the day.

  • Thanks - good to know.  I'll be sure to keep Tylenol on hand and thanks for the idea of massaging the areas.
