Catholic Churches- near Canton

Can anyone recommend a catholic church with a younger congregation (families with younger children- not just elderly people)?
We'd like Canton area, since we're living here now, but are open to nearby areas too.

Thanks for all your help ladies. You've all been very helpful in getting me settled to the area! :)

  • My parents go to St. Thomas A'Becket in Canton - it's at Cherry Hill and Lilley roads. It is a pretty family-oriented church.

  • Our Lady of Good Council is in Plymouth.  Our friends go there and love it.  They have an elementary school as well, so I know they have a younger congregation.

I don't go there any more, but I went to St. Thomas A'Becket in Canton growing up.  I went to Sunday schools, catechism, and all that stuff growing up so it is definitely geared towards families/kids.

  • Resurrection is a smaller parish in Canton that seems to have a lot of kids.  They also have a school, All Saints.  It's on Warren just west of Beck.
  • We go to a'Becket.  It's a HUGE parish with a lot of younger people.  Personally, I am more traditional when it comes to Mass, so it's not my favorite in that regard, but I do like the parish itself and the people.  VERY friendly and open.  Cam is getting baptized there on Sunday :)
  • Our Lady of Good Counsel is really nice.  My SIL & BIL got married there, BIL's family all go there.  My niece goes there when she visits us and really likes it.  There were a lot of young families going in when I dropped her off.

They also have a private school system if you want your kids to go to a private school.

  • When we go, we go to Resurrection Parish at Warren and Ridge. It's a much smaller church (which I LOVE), and people are very friendly. The music at the 10:30am Sunday mass is pretty.

They used to have a pastor there, Fr. Perfetto, who was THE BEST priest I've ever seen in my life. I looked FOREVER from Ann Arbor to Ypsi to Plymouth, to Canton for a priest I like, as the homily is extremely important to me. I HATE when homilies are so impersonal and only talk about ideas rather than how it applies to real life. I'm hoping that the new pastor will become more like this, but even though he isn't Fr. Perfetto, we're going to stay.
