Insurance

I already asked this on the NJ board, but I wanted some second opinions.  What homeowners insurance do you have?  Did you bundle it with your car insurance?  How do you like the company?  Pros/cons, etc?

TIA!

Re: Insurance

  • We used Liberty Mutual for our homeowner's insurance and never had a problem with them. They were fairly reasonable (I believe we paid around $700 a year for our townhouse). We didn't have car ins. bundled with it, so I'm not sure what type of deal you will get if you do, but it doesn't hurt to inquire. Good luck! =)

  • Yay for progress, BusyBride!! :)

We have Travelers. We pay about $800/year I believe. We had it bundled with our car insurance but last year we took our business to Geico for car insurance. (Geico was cheaper)

Travelers for home insurance was awesome when a storm blew off most of our old roof. They settled our claim promptly, fairly and were very professional. Just for that, I think we'll stay with them for the long haul.

  • We use Allstate for our coop insurance and Geico for our cars.  I think we priced out a bundle deal and it wasn't worth it for us. I would just get a bunch of quotes from several vendors, carefully weighing the options for coverage and the like.
