Do you use carpet deodorizer?
Does it actually lift up dirt like it says or is it just to mask smells? I have only seen 1 on the market, what do you use?
Re: Do you use carpet deodorizer?
We use Arm&Hammer Pet Fresh Odor Eliminator in the winter and in the spring to help with the pet smells in our house. We can't air out our house in the winter and spring here is so damp that our house smells like wet dog so we use this when we vacuum. It really helps to freshen the air in our house. I haven't noticed it helping with getting more dirt out of our carpet.
Waiting to meet the baby broccoli on 5/5/2013!
I don't do it often at all, but once in awhile, I baking soda. I pour and leave for a few hours. Come back and vacuum.
It works great without the chemicals! I don't do it often though because the vac needs a good cleaning after it.
We had this stuff that we bought at Target or somewhere. DH would use it and I would get an instant headache and feel congested almost. I didn't throw it away after he used it the first time and when he used it again, I had to go upstairs, the smell was affecting me so bad.
I've thought about using baking soda...we also would like to clean our carpets or put hardwood/laminate flooring in... we'll see.
My mom liked using baking soda. If you have pets, it is good for keeping the flea population down too.
I think it does clog up the vacuum cleaner though. Personally, I will spray some Febreze here and there for a pretty scent. If my carpet stinks, I'd steam clean it. I would never try to use a powder to take care of an odor.
