I am not trying to sound selfish or brag but I am kind of at a loss here. We had several showers for James and got pretty much everything that we needed. So now our families/works want to have a baby shower for Cate. I am very thankful for the thoughtfulness of everybody. Its hard because its like this gentle balance of recognizing that we have another child and also realizing that in some ways it feels like our first (don't know if this makes sense at all) and everybody has been great about that. Anyways my question is coming at registering. We don't need a ton of stuff that we need. We have all of the big ticket items. What do we register for? I have registered for some small stuff that we need and my total number of items (this includes diapers and wipes) is 20 things. What else do I register for?! I am trying to think ahead and have a convertible car seat, toddler feeding things, etc on the registry (thats included in the 20). Help!

Re: BR: Registry Question
Here is a few of the ideas I came up with:
Baby clothes in various sizes and seasons (I'm guessing you will get tons anyway because baby clothes seem to be a favorite)
Decor for nursery- pictures, frames, lamps, etc
Photo albums/memory book/scrapbook
Toys, things that keep baby entertained while traveling
Storage and organizational items like shelves, baskets, closet organizers, toy chest
Books. Not the easiest to register for, but it's something you could suggest to people who ask. It's never too early to start building a library.
Do you already have a lightweight stroller? I thought our travel system stroller would be all we ever needed but now that I have a lighter one, I see I was wrong.
I love the name Cate!
Do you have a high chair that hooks onto the dining room chairs? I got one at a garage sale and it's awesome.
I love Cate too!
What about registering for things like diapers and donating to the local organizations that need them?
toy storage. We haven't bought many toys, but people love to give to give toys. We have one toy organizer, and need like 3 more!
Storage tubs for the clothes they outgrow, or to grow into.
A baby book.
diapers in various sizes.
shoes in larger sizes.
batteries-we went with rechargable, and got a charger as well.
craft supplies for the toddler stage
gift cards for photo printing websites/stores
apron and baking set for "helping"
a 2 step step stool so they can reach counters to help
step stools for bathroom use
potty seats
booster seats for eating at the table
washclothes for the kitchen, as you'll wipe up more messes than you can imagine
that's all I have as I sit on the floor trying to identify dinosaurs with Will.
I was going to suggest the potty training stuff too. Never too early to get that. A few other things that were splurge items for us that you might consider if you don't already have them, a shopping cart cover, a winter bundle me infant car seat cover, car seat protectors to go under your car seat for each of your vehicles, organization/car seat protectors that hang in front of the car seat for when Cate faces forward and can start kicking the back of the front seat, exersaucer/jumperoo/swing (you may have some of these but we found C really liked a jumper and all we had was an exersaucer so might not be a bad idea to get all of them), extras of baby shampoo/lotion/diaper cream/baby tylenol/baby motrin/mylecon drops (it seems like we used these a lot when C was small but we only registered for 1 count and more would have come in handy).
Sippy cups!
Sounds fun! I had a second shower too and it was really generous of people. Most people gave gift cards and fun stuff like books and toys rather than the basic baby things i got the first time around.
