Book recs

Now that I'm done with Gone with the Wind, I feel totally broken-hearted and empty. Partially because of the book itself, but also because I'm done reading it. (This is why I try not to read books too often because I get sucked in to that world and it affects my whole personality. One time I read a book about a woman who had a nervous breakdown and she went into an asylum type home and I thought for a week I might have a mental illness.)

I'm going to read Pride and Prejudice next, but in-between I'm looking for a lighthearted book that is a quick read.  Something I can find in a small town library (which, I will say, regularly gets new releases and such).

Re: Book recs

  • Hmm...I've read a lot of really good books lately but I'm not sure they qualify as light hearted.  I'll have to think about this....

  • Ummmm I've been reading some good books too, but I don't know if they would qualify as quick reads. 'The Year She Fell' is an awesome book! It's a lot of different things going on, so u have to stay focused but it really good. I'll have to look at the list on my kindle and get back to u.

  • I just read "If I Stay" it was a short one-day read and it was incredible Not too lighthearted though, but still really awesome.

  • Okay, flame me or whatever, but when I need lighthearted and quick, I read Sookie Stackhouse books.  None of them are very long, or heavy.

And no, that isn't all that I read.  Just sometimes I need a break from historical fiction, or books about crazy people.

No flames for me.  I'm the same way.  I've heard a lot about those books so, maybe I need to look further into them.  Sometimes you just need a book that doesn't require thinking :)

  • I always recommend Jen Lancaster when looking for lighthearted and quick. She has a new fiction book out that I want to read but I don't want to buy it yet. I'd rather wait until it comes to the library!
  • i still say you need to read the sequel to GWTW... it's not as good but it does provide some much needed closure. here is a link to it on amazon with the info:
