Is it possible...

to tell your husband to quit buying you a certain kind of flowers without hurting his feelings? I appreciate the fact that roses are supposed to be "the" flower... however, I am not a huge fan. I don't really dislike them but they are not my favorite, and I much prefer yellow or orange to red... however whenever chase buys me flowers for anything he buys me red roses. They are pretty but I really like daisies, tulips and even carnations sometimes. Roses just seem overdone and they are a lot more expensive than other flowers and don't last as long. I appreciate that he buys me flowers, and have hinted that I like other things, but he's pretty dense sometimes.

Re: Is it possible...

  • Start buying some yourself in the color and variety that you like and put them out. Do it a few times...well after you get rid of your red roses, and maybe mention something like "I love flowers, yellow daisies just make the whole room feel brighter...."or something like that. Just keep in mind that if you do that enough he may or may not get the hint, and if he does you may just get yellow daisies from now on....instead of red roses.

  • YES! I straight up told B that I perfer gerbs or daisies to roses. I think they say more about a person. Any fool can pick out roses, but I think it takes more to pick out gerbs, tulips or something else...or even yellow roses.

My mom's favorite are yellow roses, and my dad knows that if he is going tobuy my mom roses, it has to be yellow. When I had B, my mom and dad sent me 12 long stem yellow roses. I LOVED them. It has meaning, ya know?

Maybe next time you are out together and you see flowers, tell  him how much you love ______ and that you think you should buy some for the house b/c they brighten the room and last a lot longer than roses. Then segway insert next holiday here, I would love to get some _____ for the house. Would he get that? B picks up on my hints. I always say "I'm just saying..." LOL

Maybe not. He's pretty dense sometimes. :) I have actually told him "You know you don't always have to buy me roses, right?" which apparently to him also translates to it's ok to buy them every time. I think I might wait a few days and just tell him. It's pretty difficult to offend him.

  • I love stargazer lilies, but they can be a bit hard to find all the time. Tim goes out of his way to get them for me which is sweet, but I've told him he doesn't always have to.
