Rh question

My SIL is about 11 weeks along, and they just found out that she is O negative.  The doctors are going to check my brother, as this may be a complication for pregnancy.  I remember hearing a bit about it when I was pregnant the first time, but I don't know much, other than I think they give you a shot to make the blood type of mom and babe compatible.  Also, she found out she is anemic at the elevation level they live at (they are in Denver).  So, along with the stress of trying to move out of there 1 bedroom apartment to a house, they are stressing a bit about this.  Does anyone have any experiences that I can share with them about this (hopefully positive)?

    If your brother is Rh positive your SIL will get a shot of rhogam while pregnant. Then once the baby is born they will test its blood type and if it is Rh positive she will get another shot of rhogam before she leaves the hospital.

    I am O- too and had 2 babies that are A+...sadly it means 2 doses to rhogam for me :-( Just a nasty shot, nothing to worry about! I was anemic at first too with Ella and still, no complications that were caused by that. Good luck to your SIL

    It's really no big deal, just a shot during the pregnancy and one after delivery. I had my first shot at my 28 week appt which is also when I did the glucose tolerance test.
