Re: PG/Mom Check-In

  • I just did a FU post on my ultrasound. Other than that, nothing new to report!

Hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day!

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Oh my, I can post here now!  Thanks for adding me on so quickly :)

The only news I have is that I am exhausted.  I think I could sleep for the rest of my life.  I know I should really be trying to get some exercise but I'm just doing what my body tells me to do.  I have worked a ton this week and that's all physical and on my feet so when I'm not working I'm sleeping.  Goodnight :)

  • I had my 1 hrs glucose test last Monday. I assume no news is good news at this point esp because I haven't been eating so healthy this past week since I've had it.

My ILs got to feel him punch and kick for the 1st time last night. My parents have yet to feel it. H still gets so excited every time he feels Little Man move. I love taking in those moments.

I have another u/s on June 2nd to see if my placenta has moved up any more. If it has this will likely be my last one before little man arrives (except for the 3D/4D H got me for Mother's Day) If not we will have another one before they plan a C Section. (praying that it has moved enough for them to allow me to attempt a natural birth)

I've also slowly begun looking into a DOULA, Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • I also had my 1 hour glucose test on Friday. They should know the results by mid week and they said no news is good news but for my own sanity I am going to call on Wednesday/Thursday to confirm the results. Fingers crossed I passed!

Got a fan hung in the baby's room on Saturday and also put chair rail around the window since we had some issues with the paint. Now we just need to buy furniture.

Had a good weekend except for it being busy the entire weekend. Guess things will slow down soon enough.

    Happy Mothers Day to everyone!

  • Macy was sick yesterday :(  She puked for about half of the day.  Like, puke so hard it comes out your nose.  It was scary because we couldn't stop the puking and she was really out of it.  I have no idea what go into her, but I am happy to say she is back to 100% this morning.  It was nice to wake up to her laughing and jumping up and down in her crib.

Ahh, I am exhausted from checking on her throughout the night.  I think I might take a nap with her during her nap time.

  • Being a mom is tough.  Maybe its just me, but 3 has been such a challenge, probably the biggest one we've had.  I love my son, but man can that kid find a reason to whine about absolutely anything.  Plus we're fully ensconced in the 9th circle of hell known as potty training.  3 days in a row last week he peed/pooped in his underwear.  At least 2 of those times were not on carpet, so that was nice.

I'm also working 24ish hours a week now, so that adjustment has been a little tough on him (and me), but he's taking it pretty well.  I have so much more respect now for mom's who've been working full time since their kids were little.  You all are awesome!

But all the awesome Happy Mother's Day's I heard yesterday and the hugs and kisses make up for everything else.

  • Not much to report.  I'm actually showing now which is fun and it's looking more and more like a baby and less and less like fat, woohoo!
  • Lila is doing great! She definitely knows that she is a little person now. Lately she has been reaching up and touching my cheek, so I give her tons of kisses on her hand, she loves it. I love waking up in the morning, looking over at her in her PNP and having her give me the biggest, gummiest smile... it melts my heart. I know that people say this all the time, but I don't remember life before her... and couldn't imagine my life without her. I want to spend every minute of every day snuggling with her, we couldn't ask for a more perfect baby.

Wed is Lila's 2 month check up (& shots), I know I am going to cry. I am driving myself insane over it, its all that I can think about. I hope she gets sleepy and not sick from them, I don't think I can handle being the reason that she is sick. Someone please reassure me that everything is going to be okay.

I was so worried about the 2 months shots but they weren't that bad. We went on Friday afternoon. First they gave her the rotavirus vaccine, which is the oral one. She was drinking it with a WTF look on her face, lol! Then they gave the first shot and she had a total delayed reaction. After the shot was given she paused, thought for a second, and then started crying. When the nurse gave her the second shot she cried harder, but then after a minute or so was fine. I thought it would be awful so I made H come with me, but I didn't even cry. I gave her some tylenol just in case when we got home. She was a little fussier than usual this weekend, but nothing crazy. She slept a more on Friday, but nothing really drastically different.

We went to Clearwater beach on Saturday evening. First we walked around, then we went to dinner at Cooter's. As soon as we got our food, Zoe started crying and wouldn't stop. I finally took her out in the parking lot and walked around with her. After about 15 minutes she stop. She has never cried nonstop like that before. Nothing I did made her better. I figure either she was over tired or it was from the vaccines. We were one of THOSE people in the restaurant, lol! We were sitting outside and there were a couple of women sitting next to us so at least it wasn't a quiet, packed restaurant.

I had the best Mother's Day! I never would've thought last Mother's Day that I would be a mom now. :) I can't imagine life without Zoe now and I love watching her grow. She found her foot for a second yesterday, but then she forgot about it. She has started to suck her thumb, which I am not thrilled about. We try to give her the paci when she sucks her thumb, but sometimes she just prefers her thumb. I don't want her to be sucking her thumb till she's 12!

My Doula was AMAZING for the birth!!!!!  We ended up hiring her for postpartum services.  I could never have gotten through everything we've been through in the past three months if it wasn't for her.  She's truly an angel, and is like family to us now.  I'll PM you her info.

  • Things are starting to settle down at home and DH and I are just beginning to find a rhythm. I'm not gonna lie; it IS extremely difficult juggling a toddler and a newborn. DD1 drains us more than DD2; she just gets into everything now and is very spirited and dramatic. On a positive note, she has adjusted really well to the new baby. She looks for her little sister when she wakes up in the morning and always wants to be in the same room with her. She has shown no signs of jealousy at all when I nurse DD2.

As for Sophia, she sleeps a lot like newborns do. However, at night time, she likes to be held when she's sleeping. She wakes up the minute we put her down in the PnP or swing. Needless to say, DH and I have been very sleep-deprived as we take turns holding her. During the day, I just pop her in my baby carrier and she'd be out for 2-3 hours.

Here's a pic of my 2 girls for anyone who's interested:

  • They are both beautiful, Mayette! :) I can't even imagine what it's like to have 2 kids at once. We brought Zoe home from the hospital in a sleep n play like the one Sophia is in. It's a newborn size and seems so tiny to me now. I can't believe Zoe ever fit in it!

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. We brought frozen boob to lunch yesterday and Lila was perfect for  the 5-6hrs that we were there. (it was an outdoor restaurant on the water with live music.... my mom and H were busy getting drunk, lol). After seeing your FB photo, you have nothing to worry about in the frozen boob dept. lol

I just didn't feel comfortable feeding her right then and there and I refuse to BF in a bathroom stall like I'm some sort of freak. We definitely need to do a lunch date again soon! :)

  • I can't think of a better place to share this story than in this thread. Kind of ditto what Kim said, except I suspect I'm on the cusp of what is to come. And some days are better than others, and today was actually a really good one.

So the story. Lily woke up from her nap. (She naps in our bed. Don't ask.) I was in the kitchen. She came out clutching her blanket and kind of just pointed  back at my room. I followed her to my room. She crawled back into the bed and laid down. So I laid down next to her. She took my arms and put them around her, and she snuggled in all close and cuddly to me. Then she put her little arm around my neck and said "Happy Mother's Day, mommy." Sigh. I love that little girl. And there was no way I was going to tell her it's not Mother's Day today.

Everything is going to be fine. It will be harder on you than her. REALLY. I'm sure it's different for everyone, but Lily was never any different on a vax day than on any other day. In retrospect, the earlier ones were much easier because now that she's older, she's upset because she knows whats coming, and that's harder to deal with and more heartbreaking, imho. Maybe it's easier to deal with if you think of it as what you're doing to protect her health from preventable diseases. :-)

Thanks. That seems to be what everyone is saying. I am going to plan to nurse her right after and bring some frozen boob, just in case I have to stop to feed her on the ride to my moms after my appt.

Jen - I guess I am a freak b/c I feed Lila in stalls ALL the time.Wink I will only do it in a handicap stall though, the changing tables are normally in there so it generally works out well.
