Replacing items (Poll)

Looking through some items last night it seemed like some things need to be replaced. Some of the pillows in our guest bedroom are getting pretty flat and the towels (almost all are from our wedding shower) are getting ratty and worn. Just curious, do you have a certain time span before you start replacing items?

  • When things start to look worn they get replaced usually. My towels look awful--but are still perfectly usable (and they don't have that mildew smell anymore since I treated the for that with vinegar and oxy clean)...so I'll probably figure out the color I want to replace them with amd use the old ones to dry cars or donate the ones that still look ok. Beddig is another story--I replace it every 2-3 years, dry clean the old stuff and donate it. I love to get new bedding!

Our bathroom and kitchen towels are about four years old. I've been replacing those over the past couple of months.

I bought new master bedroom bedding (duvet, sheets, shams) three years into marriage. We initially had an ivory duvet, and I was tired of keeping the dog off of it.

  • I probably get new bedding and towels every two years. Everything else, I just replace as it needs to be replaced.

Well, except for socks. I don't wear them that often, but H has to because of uniform. We replace those every like, three months.

  • I replace things when they start to look worn. I want to replace our bedding and pillows but I haven't fallen in love with anything in my budget but as soon as I do I will be replacing all bedding.

  • We've been married almost 5 years and still have the same towels we got for our shower and wedding. Kitchen towels, too. Most of them are still in really good condition (we got a lot so we can rotate them out more). Pillows about every year, bedding every 2-3 years, unless I get bored with it. Clothing when it is necessary.

  • I don't have a time frame for when to replace linen-type stuff, just when it gets too old and starts falling apart. I tend to use stuff till it's worn out.  I used the towels I got for college for 6 years before we got married, got new towels, and downgraded the old ones to dog towels. Embarrassed

I've actually been using my main pillow since 2003. It's just a cheap one form Target, but it refuses to go flat. All the other pillows I've bought in the meantime went flat within a year or two.

  • We try to get new things when they get worn, sometimes easier said than done.  We need new bedding bad!
