I'm typically on The Bump for those of you who don't know me ![]()
Anyway, my little sister is getting married in Fall of 2012 and is starting to look around for venues. She's looking for a place to hold both the ceremony and the reception. Ideally, she'd like the wedding to be outside and the reception inside, but that's negotiable. She'd like to keep it inside the 275 loop either in Cincy or NKY.
Does anyone have any suggestions or possible feedback if you used a similar type of venue? It's been over 8 years since I planned my wedding (which didn't really work out
) and I'm scared to venture onto The Knot. Any help would be appreciated.
Re: Wedding venue help?
How big of a guest list is she looking at?
We really liked our venue, Laurel Court, but their indoor space is fairly small (we had 70 guests, but I think they said they can do up to 120 if you use all of the first floor). We opted for the indoor ceremony location (it's an atrium, so it's virtually outdoors), but they will let you do it in the formal gardens as well.

We used Ivy Hills Country club which was awesome. It's inside the loop, but still a little bit of a trek. We LOVED it though!
We also looked at Pebble Creek Golf Course which we liked a lot - it was a close second for us. Both had really nice outside areas.
My friend recently got married at Nathanael Greene Lodge on the west side which was really nice as well and has an outside area
The event coordinators that work there were very nice to work with too!
I *love* wedding stuff Erin, so let me know if you need any help with helping her plan

Baby Sister is coming soon!
My first thought-OMG, hell has frozen over and you're getting re-married!!
Voice of America park in West Chester is nice. You can do the ceremony outside overlooking the lake. Karma had her reception there. The Hamilton County parks have a couple of nice lodges. One is at Winton Woods, another is out in Anderson (or somewhere else on the East side). I think Sharon Woods has a lodge too.
Bwahahahahah. It would be pretty trashy of me to plan my next wedding before my divorce is even finalized.
We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Ft. Thomas Community Center. Our wedding was outside and reception inside (although you don't have to make that call until the day of the wedding - they can do the ceremony inside if weather is bad). Only bad thing is that they only provide seating outside for about 100 people. We didn't realize that until about a month before the wedding (I think it was just a miscommunication and really wasn't a big deal since our ceremony was only about 10 minutes long).
The hall holds about 350 people...we only had about 175 and it worked just fine.
We used McHales hospitality center at the The Gardens in Park hills. Since she is wanting a ceremony outside and reception inside i suggest checking out Drees Pavilion at Devou Park. They have a gazebo out that overlooks the downtown Cincy area. Its a really nice place.

I third Drees...but they book up very fast!
We got married recently at the Mulhauser Barn in West Chester, it's at the base of the hill from the Beckett Ridge Country Club. We used their catering company and they decided not to charge us the off site fee. Absolutely beautiful venue.
