How did you find your Home Inspector?
For those of you that have purchased a home and gone through a home inspection, how did you find the company/person that did it?
Thanks!

We used one that was recommended by a lot of people here on the board.
He was super super detailed..... his personality was a little annoying haha... but he did a great job
This! It just so happened it was the same person that inspected DH's 1st home too. Good guy and many of our friends have used him too.
We used one that our realtor rec'd and I still regret it. We recently have come across quite a few ex inspectors, & sounds like it can be a pretty shady business
We thought he had been very detailed but really what did we know, in retrospect he appeared to put on a decent show and picked up enough superficial things to keep the sale in progress.
You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours........
Our first house we used one that the realtor recommended and regretted it too
Exactly!!!
The first plumber's 'assistant' that came through when our sewage line flooded (oh 4 months after we owned the house) told us the pay was great though.
This.
That sucks! I'd be super pi$$ed if I had a shady home inspector, you're counting on that to make a huge decision in purchasing a home or not.
This.
I was really happy with him. He did a great job, I almost thought he was being too picky. But we bought our house a year ago and other then our sump pump failing (which he couldnt have forseen) we haven't had any problems.
We were, but not much you can say I guess. It took us filling the sink in the basement once to notice it. When the inspector was in I was in the upstairs bathroom filling the tub and dh was in the kitchen filling that one and we released them all at once with a toilet flush but the problems didn't really show until you used the water in the lower levels of the house (which makes sense - but of course was where the inspector was). Apparently the lines in a lot of the house in our sub are like this and it is fairly well known.
We ignored the advice from few other people (about finding our own inspector) and I think for the rest of my life I will always worry about sewage pipes flooding no matter how new our next house is.
Sorry not that you cared for the details. LOL
