Another question

I have 2 more, actually.

1)  Kellen's daycare takes him outside when it is nice out, and I love that.  They put sunscreen on him as well, wish I am very happy about too.  But, my dilemma.  He is still pretty much bald, with wisps of hair.  They put sunscreen on his head (I do as well on the weekends).  Since he has sensitive skin, should I bathe him with soap every night?  Sorry if this is a ridiculous question.  I just want to make sure I don't dry out his skin, while still not having the sunscreen break him out.

2)  He is starting to not enjoy getting a book read to him at night.  We do dinner, a little play if time, bath (if it's bath night) then book(s) and bed.  I have pulled out books to be in the living room with us while we play, but I am wondering if this is a phase, and we should still persevere, or if we just skip the book when he is really cranky about it.

Sorry, probably no help w/#1. I usually just took a wet washcloth to Nicholas' head after he came inside.

#2 Nicholas never enjoyed being read to until a few months ago, so we never pushed it. I'd skip the book if he doesn't seem to be into it. We always sing instead.

  • 1.) Can you send a hat with him to daycare? We bathe G every night to get the sunscreen off but I try not to put the sunscreen in her hair because otherwise I'd feel like I should wash her hair every night too-which may dry out her scalp.

2.) We stopped bedtime books a few months ago. G would refuse to sit through them and just squirm the whole time or just turn the pages way too fast. I've seen her slowly be able to sit through atleast the first part of the book just this past week-so I'm guessing its a phase. Just read to him alot during the day and I'm guessing his attention span will get better so he can sit through a book. (And sometimes I'll sit on the floor and just read a book while she plays. I think that helps. Then she doesn't have to actually sit still and look at the book.) (Sorry for the rambles!)

Sophia doesn't necessarily have sensitive skin, but it does get dry spots pretty easily if we use soap every night.  In the summer, when we are using sunscreen every day, we do bath every night, but only us soap every other.  The nights we don't use soap I just wipe her off in the bath with a washcloth.  It definitely doesn't get her as clean, but it gets the majority of the sunscreen off.  If she does end up with a dry spot I put Vaseline on it before bed and by morning its pretty much cleared up.  For the part in her hair we use the spray sunscreen and it doesn't "goop" up as much so we can get away with only using shampoo every other night as well.
