probably dumb pg question

So I have an appointment scheduled with a new (to me) midwife practice on June 8th for my first prenatal visit. I have taken 3 tests all with positive results, but do I need to go to a doctor to have a blood test done before my visit on the 8th? Should I go to my normal doctor or to Planned Parenthood (where I was going to before pregnancy)?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just have no idea.

Not a dumb question. Usually your midwife will also confirm your pregnancy with a test of her own. However, it doesn't hurt to call the midwife's office to confirm whether you need to see an OB or not before seeing her. My OB's office had me pee in a cup as well as draw blood.

Thanks. I kind of assumed that they didn't need it because they didn't ask about it when I made the appointment, but I will call them and double check.

I could be wrong, but it might depend on your insurance...Some insurance require a GP to give you a pg test and then write a referral. If you don't need a referral, then I'd say no, you don't need to do anything beforehand. My office didn't do a pg test (blood draw or urine) on me, but the first appointment at my OB's office was a dating ultrasound so that made it pretty clear.

Not a dumb question. Mine did nothing besides run all that bloodwork at the first OB appt.

We don't need a referral on our insurance so I should be all set then.
